Bonnie Lee (Moore) DeMaris
1931 - 2009
Bonnie Moore DeMaris, of Oceanside, California, passed away October 1, 2009, in San Diego of cardiac arrest after two months of recovery following heart surgery.
Bonnie was born in Baltimore, MD, on August 20, 1931, daughter of William H. and Bernice Moore. Bonnie completed high school in Springfield Township, PA, and graduated from West Chester State Teachers College, PA, in 1953. She then pursued graduate courses in education at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, while starting her career in teaching. Bonnie thoroughly enjoyed her work in teaching elementary and junior high students, feeling her greatest fulfillment in her career teaching art. She easily met the challenge of making the transition to different schools as the family relocated. Through her art classes Bonnie brought much joy to students as they developed their skills and appreciation of the world of art. Following retirement Bonnie enjoyed the friendship and company of many acquaintances in Redlands, CA, and in Ocean Hills, Oceanside, CA, these friends describing her as having been a lovely, interesting, and wonderful lady.
Bonnie and Edgar were married in June, 1955, at Valley Forge, PA., and their family consists of two daughters and five grandchildren. Her sister, Patricia Harker, resides in Moorestown, NJ.
A Memorial Mass was held at St. Michael's-by-the-Sea Episcopal Church, Carlsbad in October, 2009, with committal of ashes later that year at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, San Diego

Bud DeMaris Memorial Service
The Memorial Service for Edgar E. (Bud) DeMaris was held in the St. Michael’s by-the-sea Episcopal Church, where Bud had been a long time member, at 9:30 AM PST on Saturday 19 October 2019. The church sits on a bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean in Carlsbad, California, presenting a stunning setting.
The church was filled with about 120 people, including Bud’s daughters, Patti and Laurie, their husbands, grandchildren, and many family and friends. Since the earlier death of his wife, Bonnie, Bud had been active in the church, the retirement community in which he lived, and his hobbies of fishing and photography. The class was represented by Harriet and Tom Phillips.
Patti gave a heart-felt eulogy of her father, and emphasized his life long commitment to honesty and integrity.
Grip hands...
