Class of 1985: Scrambled into different companies after Yearling year. Classes of 1989, 1991 and 1992 were not scrambled. Class of 1992 was scrambled after Yearling year.
1988: Saturday classes ended after the spring term in 1988.
1988: Intramural football was 7-man tackle.
1989: Intramural lacrosse was eliminated and was replaced by IM rugby.
1990: The 4th Class System was replaced with the Cadet Leader Development System.
1990: Weekday dinners became optional the fall of 1990, and the Mess Hall added a ‘grab and go’ option of picking up a sack meal of a sandwich, chips, and piece of fruit and leaving (which a cadet could do wearing PT uniform) instead of eating at company tables in dress uniform.
1990: During the fall of 1990 cadets could opt to not attend home football games on Saturdays if they were studying in their rooms, in the Library, or in an academic classroom. Attendance at home games fell so precipitously that Academy leadership eliminated this option before the end of that season.
Class of 1990: First class to have a female First Captain.
Class of 1990: First class to be issued a standard and mandatory computer.
1991: The Goat-Engineer football game was a full-contact game played with full pads and helmets.
Class of 1992: First class to be issued Zenith personal computers with 3.5” floppy drives rather than 5.25” floppy drives.
1990: During Cadet Basic Training, New Cadets only had to eat at the position of attention (back straight and 1 fist distance from the chair back, abdomen 1 fist distance from the table edge, neck back and eyes focused on the crest at the top of the plate) for the first 3 weeks of CBT.
