A bowl watching party was held at the Johnson's "Ducks on the Bay". A nice time was had by all, a the game rolled on, and Alburn team kept scoring, it seems that our attention was turned to eating and drinking. Then came the 4th quarter. The Party came to life, as Army scored 22 points in that quarter. Our hearts were in our mouths during the final seconds of the game. Our troops on the field exhibited that unique quality endurance and perseveance unmatched by Alburn.
Frank and Betty Hart sponsored a Holiday Party at the Ft Meyers Officer club, for neighbors, friends, and classmates. Frank Hart with Doroles Obendorfer, Phil Weatherby and Jim Obendorfer. The buffet was excellent and well received by all. Was interesting to meet and talk to their neighbors and friends, many from outside our normal circles that we travel in. Jim Obendorfer was the "Hit" of the Party wearing his Tie "100 Dalmations".
Rose Mologne, Doroles & Jim, and (standing tall) Jim Williams. Jim told us a story about entering the academy, and we all went to get outfitted in our new cadet uniforms. One item being black shoes, Jim with his shoe size "14", threw the supply system into a panic. No Size "14's". Was told to wear his brown loafers til the black "14's" arrived. Can you imagine, how many confrontations that Jim had with upper classmen, in explaining his being out or "Uniform". I am sure all of us has special stories that need to be told and some recorded, befor they are gone forever.
Jenny Johnson, Renate Evans, Dion Johnson, Walt Evans, and Doug Stuart found a table and occupied same. As always the stories flew, the Army/Navy Game replayed play by play. the feeling was good to have 4 in a row.
Frank is demostrating to Betty and Phil, the various infractions on the field, such
as "Holding", while Jenny and Dion are looking on for errors. The gentleman
to the right of Dion is his brother visiting from up North.. His brother is
retired from "Pan Am".
Doug, Phil and Betty dominated the sofa, which was the "high ground" for
watching the game. Nothing like a flash bulb in your face to get your attention!!
Frank and Emmy, the game was pretty much over, but the intensity was not.
We all kept waiting for ... the tide to turn. Not this time, but I am satisfied
with the win over NAVY.
Bill Welsh is outlining the operations and logistics needed for the tailgate
on saturday.

the rain...what a wonderful feeling.. just sitting in the rain!!
Lt-Rt::The A-1 Files, Jack Krause, Buzz Grant, Tom Shukay, Frank
Hart and Bill Welsh. Notice that they are all the same height.
Not many company classmates today, can make that claim!!
The Dallas Tailgate
and Pep Rally was high lighted by the Army Cheerleaders and the infamous "Rabble Rousers"!!
The music was inspirational and the cheers were remindful of a long time ago.
A lot of memory bubbles of the past were brought forth, and pleasant times
revisited.
Ken Bailey flew in from Hawaii;
coordinated the Game with a visit to Aspen, Colorado. Notice how
tan he is, Ken joined Bill & Eddice Jessee and Joe & Gretchen Peisinger for
a bite-of-the-tailgate. The Jessee's and Peisinger's motored up from San Antonio. Note
the M-5 "Senior Staff Field Table", complete with head protection,, pretty smart!!
The Tailgate party in the
parking lot, increased as Audrey Short joined in the group. That M-5 "Senior Staff Field
Table" looks real durable. Audrey was the only one from the Dallas-Ft Worth area
to attend the game. Talked to Freddie Attaya, prior to the game, his son was
flying through and was spending time with him.
A major portion
of the '54 Cheering section, second row with John and Betty Lohman, Bill
Jessee with Joe Peisinger and wives Eddice and Gretchen. first row with
Russ Parker, Phil & Yale Weatherby with daughter (Linky). The Gilboux's, John and
Bernice with children and grandchildren.
Russ Parker and Phil
Weatherby watching the key event--another touchdown by Army.. Russ brought his
"Four-Tone Horn" which blasted for each and every successful Army play.. For the
Air Force Vs Army Game, Russ has promised to bring a "Siren" to accent success!!
John and Bill are analyzing the contents of the bag of potato chips
between plays.
John Gilboux is showing his granddaughter the finer art of the football
plays, or maybe it was the 3rd quarter stretch.
Bill, Joe, Eddice, and Gretchen are awaiting for the next touchdown, the
intensity and the thrill of the win..
After the game was over, and we were departing the stadium. Who shows up but
Bill and Carole Old from San Antonio. Bill being in a wheel chair was seated elsewhere, so
we spent some time with them, catching up on new & old news. It was great
that Bill and Carole made the effort to attend the game. For some of us,
it had been over forty some years, since we set eyes on each other. Time
does pass by too quickly.
Walt and Renate Evans hosted a Poolside Party on the 7th of September,
most of us expected a cancellation due to Hurricane Fran. A delightful
time was held, Walt did the honors on the barbcued hamburgers and hot
dogs and Renate laid out a spread to be envied!! Attending were Frank
and Betty Hart, John and Barbara Miller, Bob and Lucile Adams, Norman
and Elizabeth Gerstein, Dion and Jenny Johnson, Glenn Matsumoto, Rose
Mologne, Jim and Delores Obendorfer, Ed Pawlowski with Guest, Chet
and Monica Piolunek, Doug and Emmy Stuart, Lee and Fran Thackwray,
and Yale and Phil Weatherby.
"Mo" Blume with his "4-on-the-floor" wheelchair was driven by Frank and
Betty Hart. Mo has a special equiped van to handle the wheelchair, but
needs someone to drive it for him. In the group was Lee Thackwray, Jenny Johnson talking to Ed
Pawlowski.
Betty Hart and Jenny Johnson in high level discussions on the finer
techniques of consumming all of the food offered. Both are still involved
with seminars and conferences, Jenny will be travelling to Japan, Korea
and Europe for speaking engagements in various conferences. Betty and Frank
are engaged with motivational conferences and seminars connected with
their church.
After the feast, we all sat around waiting for a bus. On the planter wall
are John Miller, Bill Epling, Lucile Adams and Emmy Stuart.
Rose Mologne and Phil Weatherby sharing lifes secrets. Rose is working
with the "American Red Cross" and doing other volunteer work. Phil is with
the "Institute for Defense Analyses", helping the researcher's gather
needed material from far flung libraries or at some remote "Web" site.
Walt and Renate are congratulating Dion Johnson on his swim in their pool.
With Hurricane Fran on Thursday and Friday and Saturday killing a 6 ft
Alligator in Fort Washington. Dion should be proud to be the only one in
our group to take a swim!!
The highligth of the evening was the drawing for the "Door Prize", Frank
and Glenn Matsumoto tied for the Prize "Authentic and Genuine" Fur Jock
Straps. They were lucky that Walt didn't insist that they try them out
in the pool..
Corky Gabbert on his annual NMMI Alumni Trail Ride, a week in the
northern mountains near Chama, NM. A week of trail riding
and trout fishing. Lots of good food and cool ones..lots of friendship.
Only downer, being so dry in the southwest, no campfires were allowed.
Fishing in a private stocked pond, all were encourage to take as many
as could be caught due to the low water level the fish were getting
over crowded. Corky and Andrea are planning a sojourn to the Baltic
area in late summer.
Tucson AZ, Russ and Ann Parker stopped by on their way to California from El Paso, TX;
Sunday afternoon in the patio; Corky & Andrea Gabbert with Russ & Ann Parker.
From Tucson AZ, is Corky Gabbert with grand-daughter Allison Michelle Gabbert ,
born: 18 Sept 1995 Santa Monica, CA.
Corky and I have exchanged E-Mail over the past
few days, he is investing in a Leading Edge computer environment Test Bed, to
further our quest for knowledge and understanding. This picture is an example of '54
Hi-Tech science, Corky digitally transmitted this photo to my E-Mail address by
attachment to his E-Mail. All I had to do was transfer the digital file to my
"Photo album" folder. Isn't science & technlogy wonderful!! Soon- we will be able to have audio clips also inserted for you to hear, and maybe those latest video shots of your trip to the Moon or your latest grandchild!!
