The Colorado Cup, emblematic of great skill, competitive spirit and late
waxing, was won by Hugh Trumbull with Frank Harlem only a shadow behind. The cup, similar
in appearance to the old, revered and long gone "Sammy Pitcher," now has Jim
Tilley ('97) and Hugh ('99 and '01) engraved on its base as a testament to their NASTAR
victories during class ski outings in Colorado. The cup is maintained (polished) in Summit
County Colorado.
The award ceremony was conducted (and the arrangements for the NASTAR were made) by Herb
Johnson on Thursday 1 March. The full schedule included:
-- Sunday check-in and hospitality get together
-- Monday skiing at Breckenridge; fondue dinner at
Keystone
-- Tuesday skiing at Keystone; dinner sleigh ride in
Breckenridge
-- Wednesday skiing at Copper Mountain; dinner at
Dugans'
-- Thursday skiing and NASTAR at Breckenridge; awards
dinner in Frisco
-- Friday most checked out, avoiding weekend crowds.
The weather cooperated; the snow was excellent; the crowds were nonexistent.
Twenty-one classmates (see below) plus 22 family members participated on and off slope --
with no injuries except bruised egos. A good time was had by all.
