1998 All Service Academies Ball
RSVP Form for All Parents' Club Members
Dear Parents' Club Members,
The 1998 All Service Academies Ball will be held Wednesday, December 30, 1998, at the Officers Club, Fort Lewis, Washington. My wife, Mary, and I (Douglas, Class of 2001) are honored to chair the committee of the West Point Parents' Club of Washington which is organizing the event. Welcome to these information pages and to the Ball.
The cost is $25 per person for dinner and $10-15 for pictures, depending on your selections. You will handle costs with our photographer, Anne Hur, personally.
The MPs at the Main Gate will check your name against the attendee list and then clear you onto the Fort without your having to park your vehicle and obtain a visitor's pass. However, I would suggest that you have driver's license, vehicle registration and proof of insurance available against the improbable circumstance that you are asked to obtain a visitor's pass, which requires these documents during an out-of-vehicle process.
If you need hotel reservations , you will find contact information here .
Dinner includes:
Tossed Green Salad, Stuffed Potato, California Mixed Veggies, Chef's Cheese Cake plus choice of entree:
Halibut stuffed with Dungeness Crab & Shrimp
Prime Rib
Vegetarian
Dress is as follows:
Military: Mess Dress/Full Dress, Service Dress in a pinch for Cadets and Midshipmen
Civilian: Gentlemen, Dark Suit or Black Tie with miniatures; Ladies, Evening Wear or Semi-Formal
There will not be a uniform inspection.
Our Schedule of Events is as follows:
1730 - 1900 No Host Cocktails
1900 - 2030 Dinner
2030 - 2100 Short Program
2100 - 2400 Dancing
If you are a General or Flag Officer, please note your Service and Rank on the RSVP Form below so that we may have the appropriate flag in a stand behind the podium.
Directions to the Officers Club are as follows:
Fort Lewis is south of Tacoma on I-5. Proceed I-5 to Fort Lewis, Exit 120, and then to the Main Fort on the east side of I-5. There is an option for North Fort Lewis on the west side of I-5 but you do not want that.
Proceed on 41st Division Drive through 4 traffic lights and turn right on Bitar Ave. An air field with beautiful helicopters is on the left. Continue about 0.3 miles to building 2400, the Officers Club, on the left. If you cross N. Division Rd. you have gone too far.
The phone number of the Officers Club is 253-964-0331 and here is a map
Please contact __ or your club president if you have questions. It will be a lovely evening and I hope you and your Cadets and Midshipmen will make it the merrier by your presence.
With best wishes,
David R. Graham
