Army fights at New York States

Ending the fall season with a tough tournament, the Army Team traveled to Brooklyn with high expectations. The results were very unique as the team overwhelmed the divisions with multiple players. Many Army players fought each other to move on to the quarter finals. The most notable performance was from the female team, which won nearly every possible award.

Freshman Sarah Drane took 1st in the 78 kg weight class and 2nd in the open. In the 70 kg weight class, Senior Tanilla McDaniel took 2nd, Freshman Marissa Kobayashi took 3rd, and sophomore Sarah Knutson took fourth. Andy Alexander, a freshman softball player that works with the team in the off-season, took first in the 63 kg weight class.

The performance of the Women's Team ended the fall season strong. Although the Men did not do as well as expected and experienced some unlucky injuries, the Team is in a solid position for the Spring Season. For one of the few times in Army Judo History, the Men's Team has an opportunity to place. With tremendous dedication and technical growth, the team will certainly be prepared for a strong showing at both Collegiate and Senior Nationals in the spring.
