WP-ORG's eighth fundraising drive began on October 4. In just
three weeks, 835 members have generously donated $32,116.17, 49%
of the $65,000 goal of FUND DRIVE VIII. Let's really spread the
word. Maybe we can go over the top before election day. WP-ORG
needs our support!

Thank you to all who have contributed! We appreciate your
support. I know there are many of you who have been thinking
about making a donation but just haven't gotten around to it. Or
perhaps you think that making a donation on-line by credit card
will be confusing or time-consuming. Consider my experience: I
donated last week and was surprised at how fast and easy it was. 
In only a few minutes I typed in my donation, got my confirmation,
and printed out my receipt. And I felt good for the rest of the
day because I'd contributed to a service that benefits so many
members of our WP-ORG family.

WP-ORG's fundraising drives finance our operating expenses and
capital equipment costs for a planned period. The $65,000 to be
raised in FD VIII will keep the many services of WP-ORG up and
running through the end of March 2001. Once we reach our goal, FD

Please use this site if at all possible. Making your donation by
credit card eliminates the administrative activity required to
process checks. It's easy and quick.

We hope that every member will participate in FD VIII by making a
donation, but as you know, WP-ORG's services are provided
free-of-charge...supported by voluntary contributions. We welcome
the continued membership of those who cannot or choose not to
donate at this time. Of course, information about our individual
donations is strictly confidential...it's known only to WP-ORG's
CFO, Jack Price. Jack is keeping us all updated on the progress
of FD VIII via donation totals attached to the end of all
postings. And soon an "FD VIII Status Report" site will be
available on the web to provide detail.

This fundraiser is run like Public Broadcasting. If you donate,
you get the TV and radio programs. If you don't donate, you STILL
get the programming; but the quality may suffer without your
help. The only difference is that WP-ORG dones NOT get any
government funding to supplement our donations. We have a real
need for your assistance: just the cost of Internet access and
electricity for the computers runs up a large monthly bill that
has to be paid!

So, as Moderator of Parent-Forum,. I issue you a challenge to make
your donation before I have to write my next appeal on November
16th. :^)
