We appreciate your support.

In this message I'll give you a brief description of how your donations
are spent and why they are needed by WP-ORG. More importantly
I will discuss the potential for a return on investment of these
donations as evidenced by a Case History of USMA class of 1955,
my class.

A review of http://www.west-point.org/donate/budget8.html
outlines where the $65K of FDVIII is going to be spent. A quick
explanation of why FDVIII's Goal was raised from $60K to $65 K
is a great example of how WP-ORG cuts expenses. WP-ORG
operates out of Ditus's home instead of from a much more expensive
Austin office. The added heat load over 5 years from a room full of
WP-ORG Computers finally was too much for the air conditioning
system. The "fix" cost $5K to keep the Computers running, hence
the $5K increase in the current Fund Drive.

Although we often focus on the donation investment we make in
WP-ORG, I want to share some "ROI" (Return On Investment)
received by my class, USMA 1955, from WP-ORG. 1955 has been
served by WP-ORG since 1995. During this period, two events have
occurred which makes all '55 donations to WP-ORG well worthwhile.
In 1996 I received an email from a woman asking me if I knew her
Dad, a '55 Grad. Her Dad died when she was 4 and, for many reasons,
she was forbidden any information about her Dad. I relayed her
message to the 1955 Class Net and within days the '55 On-Line Troops
"gave back" the Father to the Daughter with messages containing
detailed information of her Dad from his Cadet days through his 5 year
Air Force Career. The Daughter joined, and remains an active member
of the '55 Net. The other event involved a '55 Grad who is a Jesuit
Priest in Mexico, serving in one of the poorest rural areas in Mexico.
This Jesuit Priest needed a Hip Replacement, but did not want to have
the operation done in Mexico, as required by Jesuit Insurance. In two
weeks the '55 Net raised $50K to pay for the Hip Replacement Operation
at Duke University Medical Center and have $28K remaining to return
to the Mexican Parish as a '55 donation. Both these events were made
possible by WP-ORG.

I believe these '55 experiences probably are typical of similar events
occurring on other WP-ORG Listservs every day.
Please show your support now. Thank you!
