Subject: WP-ORG: WP-ORG FD13 Kickoff Message

To all WP-ORG members,

It is time again when we must begin our WP-ORG fund drive. We understand it is tax time, and current events make a fund raiser the last thing on your mind, but we must move forward in order to keep the standard of service you are accustomed to with WP-ORG. The main financial requirement goes toward our two paid employees, software consultants, and to continue to provide our services to WP-ORG members.

By way of beginning this drive, I want to report to all of our continued motivation to keep WP-ORG absolutely secure. Following our recovery from the severe hacker attack we suffered last summer and since our last fund drive, we enlisted the help of outside agencies to test our security, and passed with flying colors. We continue to monitor our security to assure it remains as high as possible.

Our technical staff has restored a procedure which all may use to search WP-ORG, USMA, and AOG domains for subjects of interest. Near the bottom of our home page at: http://www.west-point.org/ you will see a blank box titled Search in which you enter a topic you would like information on. At the right of that box, you see the domain name to search. If you wish to search WP-ORG, merely click on GO after you enter the topic. If you wish to search the USMA or AOG domain, click on the small arrow to display all domains and select the one you want and then click on GO. Like all search engines, you may have to refine the topic you enter to narrow the search so just go back and reenter the topic to search on.

A new feature currently under development is the ability to search the WP-ORG archives for specific topics.

We are also in the process of testing what we refer to as WP-ORG's Online Ward Book and you immediately ask, "What is a Ward Book?" John Ward '64 has meticulously gathered the history of his Class of 1964 throughout the years and publishes a bound version at each five-year mark. This has become a valuable asset in keeping his class connected and preserving the living histories of its graduates. Our technical staff has expanded the idea to include all USMA classes and it is in the final stages of testing before announcing it to all. We believe it will be particularly useful for recording individual as well as class histories. For those classes coming up on a reunion gathering of their class, this will also make it much easier for the class to publish their class histories for all.

As the above applications are finalized, they will be announced in separate messages to all moderators for notifying their list members.

Our budget for the next six months, 1 April 2003 - 30 September 2003, is $98,000 and may be seen at:

Why Donate?</a>

In the past WP-ORG Fund Drives, an average of 15% of our members have made donations. Our goal for Fund Drive 13 is for all members to participate, each making a donation to share in the financial support and ownership of WP-ORG.

We also are asked what is an acceptable donation. Our answer has always been the same; donate in accordance with the value you feel you receive from the services provided by WP-ORG, not to exceed the amount you can afford.

As in previous drives, you may make a secure donation by using your credit card at:
https://www-secure.west-point.org/donate

Or you may donate by check made payable to WP-ORG and sent to:

Please be sure to indicate your affiliation and year on your check.

Regardless of the method you use, WP-ORG, Inc., is recognized by the IRS as a 501(C)(3) Non-Profit Organization. 100% of your donation is tax deductible. For those who may need it, our EIN number is 51-0387132.
