1st Lieutenant Byron Joseph Plapp, age 25, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on March 27, 2015 after a hard-fought battle with lymphoma. He pursued his lifelong dream of military service, training to become a helicopter pilot at Fort Rucker, Alabama until his diagnosis..
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Sarah Plapp, parents, Stephen and Janet, and sisters, Melissa and Caroline.
Visitation will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, March 30, in Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home 4115 Hendricks Ave. Jacksonville, FL 32207. In celebration of his life, a memorial service for Byron will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31, in Christian Family Chapel 10365 Old St. Augustine Rd. Jacksonville, FL 32257.
He will be interred at West Point. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Wounded Warrior Project (WoundedWarriorProject.org) or to Be The Match (BeTheMatch.org).
