25-year-old 1LT Neale Shank from Fort Wayne
IN, died on 31 MAR 2007 in Baghdad, Iraq, from a non-combat related
incident. His death is under investigation.
1LT Shank was active in his High School
JROTC. He graduated from the Infantry Officer Basic Course at
Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga, and was assigned to the 1st Squadron,
89th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain
Division, Fort Drum, N.Y. He was deployed to Iraq in July 2006.
He was reportedly wounded in a separate incident in October 2006,
and was promoted to 1LT on 28 NOV 2006.
He is survived by his parents, a sister,
and a brother who is also in the military.
