CPT Gurbisz died in Baghdad, Iraq, on Nov. 4, when an improvised explosive device detonated near their HMMWV during convoy operations.

He was assigned to the 26th Forward Support Battalion, 2nd Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Ga.

He is survived by his wife Mrs. Victoria Gurbisz, his parents, Kenneth and Helen, and by a sister, Kathleen, 28.

"He and his soldiers believed in what they were doing," Kenneth Gurbisz said. "He dedicated himself to service of his country."

Burial will be on Monday, 14 November 2005 at 1400 at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA. Please allow extra time when arriving, the guard will direct you to the gathering point. For more information, please contact Arlington at 703-607-8000 ext. 0.
