`>
`> Bottom line and what I think can go out today:
`> 1) we will be HQ'd off campus in a large local hotel (TBD)
`> 2) Events will be held from THU6 OCT to SUN the 9th OCT
`> 3) Events will include an ice breaker (cash bar or cover charge with beer
`> and sodas and finger foods?)| memorial service| 10 year gift presentation|
`> ball/dinner| class meeting with class officer elections| and football game
`> with parade and tailgate.
`> 4) bus transpo will be provided to and from USMA (to include USMA
`personnel
`> to the hotel events)
`> 5) still working on child care
`> 6) We have contracted with a firm called WORLDTEK to set most of this up
`for
`> us.
`> 7) there will be a registration fee that will include admin costs and have
`a
`> basic load of parapnenalia (hat| reunion booklet with schedule and POCs|
`> pins| name badge| and a bag for all of this).
`> 8) We will have class items on sale through AOG ahead of the reunion
`> (Fleece| polo shirts etc)
`> 9) Uniform/dress for the weekend as we know it includes black tie for the
`> dinner/ball| and blazer/coat and tie for the parade and game (Supe's new
`> thing| we will probably add class ball caps to this).
`>
`> What am I missing?

478,1,False doc's to prevent getting out of IRR?,Giselle Richards Calame,I1,grcalame@yahoo.com,12,3,2004,Hi everyone| the '96 board is non existent| so I am posting this here. I'm writing to see if anyone knows of false documents being sent to people trying to leave the IRR after completing their 8 years. My husband (Adrian| '96) faxed in his resignation recently and a captain in perscom called him directly and insisted that he was "stuck" until 2009| upon completion of EIGHT years in the IRR. This captain then emailed his original oath documents (the first being when he left active duty for the IRR and the second being the original oath that you sign for your officer commision around graduation.) Attached to these documents was a memo stating the restrictions and regulations with a suspicious looking final paragraph that didn't match the rest of the document (spacing| alignment and boldness of type--insert your Dan Rather jokes here). In other words| it looked like the last paragraph had been tacked on to the original. It was dated for the time my husband left active duty (dates were not in his handwriting) but it does not have his signature. The final paragraph said that "you must have eight years service before resigning from the IRR." It didn't specify active or reserve service| etc. I said he could always argue that he had done eight years of service| but that doesn't avoid the fact that someone tacked that paragraph onto the original document. Has anyone heard of something like this happening? Sorry this is so long-winded| thanks for your help.

Remaining as of SEP 04 - 382 total (45 women| 337 men). Only 38.5% total remaining from those commissioned with 35.4% women and 39% men. Enjoy. -Candy

`
`My wife and I got married at West Point. The reception is what kills you on the expense. You can literally get married in the Cadet Chapel for under $300--paying for the chapel and the organist.
`
`But the reception at either the O Club or the Thayer is expensive. Will be $35 or more per plate. Then there is entertainment.
`
`The only way to save is to have the guests pay for meals--if you want to go that direction. If you and your fiancee need help| my wife Suzy can answer everything involving getting married at WP.
434,1,The Civilian World,mcauliffedj,C1,mcauliffedj@hotmail.com,10,2,2003,Hello Everyone|
` Hope all is going well. Well; I have finally had enough of the green machine and dropped my letter of intent last week. I am officially out of the Army early next year. I was wondering if anyone could provide some feedback regarding some of the more interesting/exciting jobs that are out there for JMOs. I was looking at the pharama sales or some type of sales position. Additionally| has anyone broken into the Investment Banking side of the house? Any feedback would be much appreciated.
`

452,2,The Civilian World,Paul Armstrong,I1,paul.armstrong@us.army.mil,12,6,2003,Dan|
`
`I submitted my resignation in July for January. I just withdrew my resignation. I had 4 job offers between $50|000 and $85|000. Just figured I had it better here in the Army. Like Jim Patton said| DO NOT USE A HEAD HUNTER| just USE them. You may find something interesting that you would like from them| but most of them will just want to pay you 45K - 55K. Use them for interview practice and help refining your Resume. The AOG site has some really good example resume's. Invest money in the SABRD and the West Point Societies. That is how I got all of my job offers| except one. Use the SABRD to contact old Grads and then send your Resume and your intent to the WP Society President in the area that you want to move to| they will usually distribute it for you. If you want me to send you an example of my Resume or contact letter to OLD GRADs| just email me at my AKO. The job market out there is ripe for Grad Picking!
448,2,The Civilian World,Jim Patton,C1,patton@amazon.com,11,28,2003,Big Dan! I've been out since 2000 and have learned some things the hard way. First| you're better off landing a position on your own rather than through a headhunter. Negotiate everything you can. Be careful of Target| they like JMOs to fill their lower ranks| but you have to fit their cliquish culture to move up...and if you continue in the National Guard or Reserves like I did| they will hold it against you. Trust and seek out grads| like you're doing on this board. Take some time to make the right decision. Goin to B-school first is not a bad idea. Use the SABRD and get your resume out there. Study interviewing techniques and dressing for interviews. Research the companies you are going to interview with and ask informed questions.
`Good luck Big Dan. You're going to do great. You bring a lot to corporate America with your background| don't settle for anything less than you're worth.
`
`Jim

`
`Hope things are going well for you. The civilian job market is really bad - especially for people trying to change careers (guys like us) My advice is to go to business school| then hit the job market. Hopefully by the time you finish| companies will be hiring again| and you will be qualified for better positions in Marketing and Finance. Yeah| B-school is expensive| but money is really cheap to borrow right now| which makes school a good investment. Good Luck.

428,1,Absolutely American,Andy Hospodar,H2,andrew_hospodar@hotmail.com,9,3,2003,Have you all read this book yet? Interesting stuff...
444,2,Absolutely American,Rich Wampler,I1,richard.wampler@us.army.mil,11,1,2003,I have to agree with Tim on this one. Good stories| but way too much "touchy feely" shit trying to sell books. Did we ever sit around talking about that kind of stuff?? I donīt remember any of those conversations.
`My little brother was there during that time. He verified some of the stories but didnīt know any of those supposed "class leaders."
`Definitely not one of my more favorite West Point writings.
430,2,Absolutely American,Trish (Conrad) Wright,E1,wrights4jesus@earthlink.net,9,12,2003,Just finished this book today. It's sweet writing; the guy can really turn a sentence. And| at least from my perspective nine years hence| to say it is an accurate documentary of the Corps is a severe understatement. It's complete with foul language| casual sex| egomaniacs| as well as plenty of the good stuff that makes the place admirable if not perfect. I was particularly moved by his account of LTC Kiersey's fall from grace at the Academy; unfortunately| it looks like the very guys who embody what the place stands for are still often getting hammered for doing the right thing. Disturbing.
`
`If I didn't know any better I'd say Dave Lipsky was a cadet himself. The book's definitely worth a read.
429,2,Absolutely American,Tim Gillette,b4,tsgillette@hotmail.com,9,3,2003,I read that book. Are cadets really dorks like that now? What's with the putting the cigarettes out on their arms "in case they ever let their buddies down." And how about the "discussions about combat" while drinking beer at the firstie club. Seems to me that USMA paid that clown to write what was supposed to be a stirring commentary on the patriotic orchard that is America's West Point. George Dubya would be proud. The teachings of the party have been spread all the way to Barnes and Noble.
435,3,Absolutely American,Anti-Tool,A1,Antitool@hotmail.com,10,3,2003,Dude|
`
`That Whitey Hertzog kid sounded like a clown. All that huah talk at the Academy about wanting combat and the kid ends up in the Finance Corps after quitting flight school because a friend died. For a guy that wanted to be a bad ass| he had no clue about the real world.
`
`And what is it with that "Corporation" group? Sounded like a bunch of tools that had nothing better to do and needed to get laid more.
`
`If I ever run into some of those clowns in the real world| I'd ask 'em to take their rings off. They are a disgrace to all that is great about West Point.

348,1,Need Advice: Trying to get back to Active Duty,Eric Duckworth,D4,duckworthe@hotmail.com,3,4,2002,Friends and Classmates| last September (ironically Sept 10) I decided to reenter Active Service. For me personally| Civilian life did not offer the level of fulfillment| comraderie| and excitement I found in the Army.
`
`Granted| when I left active service| I was ready to go| and ready to experience life as a civilian.
`
`Now| I have since replied to the limited Call to Active Duty for Captains. Six months after applying| my packet passed all requirements| but my acceptance was denied (for currently) unknown reasons (which I am investigating). My recall was not recommended apparently by either the MI Branch or with the Chief of Combat Support at PERSCOM
`
`DO any classmates out there have any suggestions as to what my next step should/could be. I am currently talking ot my branch manager to find out COAs as well.
`
`I have trouble believing that in our vast Army| with its still continued attrition of LTs and NBQ CPTS that there is no room for someone whose been out less than 2 years and has stayed current in service with the reserves. My record is strong and clean| so there should'nt be anything keeping me from finding a place (I would think).

`You can always go AGR if you want to go back to the service. One of the guys here where I work was AGR. The tours are 5 years instead of 3| and the positions are usually either cadre at local reserve centers or instructors at civilian universities teaching ROTC. There are also many AGR positions at HQs around the globe. You would have a branch manager and PCS and the pay and leave will be the same. I cannot believe that the Army didn't take you back| but if this is what you want| then by all means do it. Also| in the AGR program| once you hit 20| you're automatically retired. Hope this helps.

310,1,Duckworth,Karine Gloriod,I4,karines@us.ibm.com,5,9,2001,Does anyone know where Eric Duckworth is and/or how to get ahold of him? I just met someone who knew him at the Academy and was wondering what happened to him. Thanks..... ``Beat Navy!``Karine

317,2,I know where Eric is!,Eric Duckworth,D4,duckworthe@hotmail.com,6,2,2001,I was surprised to see that Karibe was trying to track me down. I thought my pictures on milk cartons had long since expired. I and my wife| Shannon| had left Fort Knox| KY for Baltimore| MD over the past year. After deciding that Baltimore was not for us we relocated. We are now settled in Lexington| KY since May 1. If you are passing through or would like to claim the prize money for finding me - drop me a line. :)
307,1,Medical or Pharm Sales,Dave Roehn,H3,daveroehn@cs.com,5,5,2001,Is anyone currently working in the medical or pharm sales business? My goal is to be a sales rep for one of the big companies like J&J| Pfizer|Abbot Labs| etc. If your company is hiring| let me know| I'll send you my resume. Thanks.
304,1,My Fellow Greeks,Mike Seawood,G1,Tumble109@aol.com,5,1,2001, Hi all| like most people on here| I just wanted to post a note and let you know what I'm up to. Glad to see so many people use the boards. Well I'll be brief cause these boxers are riding up. ` Branched Armor as some of you know and spent a lovely 4 months at Ft Knox. Met a great girl from Louisville and married a year later. Did the First Cav thing at Hood and spent a lovely winter in Bosnia. Fresh drawers| thermal socks| and gortex gloves will put a smile on your face every day. After the Advanced Course I stayed at Knox and commanded the Tank Master Gunner School. For those of you who have done it| you know command is truly one of the best times in life. My 54 men ranged from 14 - 22 years of service so I never had to deal with the problem children we all read about in Behavioral Leadership| or whatever that class we all took. Speaking of that| get a load of this....one time| at band camp| when i was a platoon leader| I had 2 soldiers AWOL| 1 soldier sent to Leavenworth on a rape conviction| my 27 year old tank driver's 18 year old wife was sleeping had kicked him out of the house and the battalion commander's driver had moved in| my platoon sergeant kept trying to sell me AMWAY and for the life of him didn't have a mean bone in his body so he never played the bad guy| my SSG wingman tried to undermine every word I said and conspired with 2 other tank gunners to take control of the platoon| 1 soldier told me he wanted to kill himself and won a trip to the 5th floor of Darnell Hospital to the "Looney" farm| only to tell me 3 days later that everyone in there was "crazy". 3 soldiers were in severe financial standing that I set up a budget for them and nearly had to approve every purchase they made. But when we went to the field and they got away from society| they were the finest group of fighting men I've ever seen. Tactically we kicked ass all the time| go figure.``Ok| enough memories| like many of you| I'm answering the call of big industry. I've built a palacial estate (ok) in Louisville and am looking for employment around that area. My advice for anyone pondering whether or not to get out is to start early. I started looking 5 months ago and still have nothing definate. It's much harder to find something within a certain geographic. But if you're willing to move it's much easier. I've had to turn down offers in the $60K - $80K range in Michigan. Another piece of advice| save up your leave time cause you will definately need it when you transition. Thanks to the First Cav| I'm burning up 79 days of leave and I couldn't make it without that paycheck rolling in while I look for a job. Good luck to you go-getters continuing on| I never thought I'd be one of the corporate jumpers| but hey| priorities change| heart disease runs in the family| and I might be at the midpoint of my life....I don't want to do just one thing while I'm still breathing.` Anyone seen or heard of the old Greeks? Jeff Zeunik| An Bui| Ed Brady| Matt Quinn| Karen Wakefield| Papa?``If anyone passes thru Louisville or comes to the Derby| stop on by.``Mike
316,2,You're still alive,An Bui,G1,anbui@aol.com,5,31,2001,Mike|`I thought you fell off the face of the earth. Haven't heard from you in a long| long time. Jeff and I were wondering about you. He was here for my wedding last month. Also there were: Ryan Shih (as in the previous message)| Jeff (he was my best man)| Matt Quinn| James Johng| Glenn Peterson| and Joe Mehrten. It was great seeing everyone. Chris Lo Weng Wah couldn't make it because he had to go back to Singapore. He was in Monterey getting his master's degree. He's married and has a 4 month old baby girl.``So it's approaching one year since I've been out. I'm working for Hewlett Packard in their Home Products Division. So when you see any of the high end Pavilion computers| be weary because I probably had something to do with it. The job is fun and the people are great. I travel about a week a month to Huntsville to oversee factory operations. ``If you have a chance| drop me a line. You can reach me at: anbui@aol.com or at an_bui@hp.com``It's great hearing from you and take care.``-An
305,2,Iron Mike...,Ryan J. Shih,E4,rshih@stanford.edu,5,2,2001,As a matter of fact| ran into An Bui| Matt Quinn| & Jeff Zeunik this weekend at An's wedding this past weekend.``We all live in the Bay Area now. An is working for Hewlett-Packard doing something| Matt Quinn works in Sacramento for a consulting firm| I think| and Jeff Zeunik is going to Business School at Northwestern (he's in Chicago| actually). As for myself| I'm going to back to school at Stanford. Need to get an edumacation somehow...
302,1,Service Academy Networking Happy Hour,Stacey Pittman,C2,ss4507@usma.army.mil,4,16,2001,Not certain if anyone has mentioned this before on the class page|but I was just made aware of this last week. Every second Tuesday of the month| the Service Academy Network hosts a Happy Hour at the Wings Club| 52Vanderbilt Ave| 18th Floor (west side of Grand Central Station at 44th Street). Although there is a $10 cover at the door| this is a great opportunity to "network" with some old graduates.``I am currently at West Point serving as the S4 for USCC. I plan on attending the next Happy Hour in May if anyone is interested.``Classmates interested in visiting their Rockbound Highland Home and need a place to stay| look me up. It is hard to believe I am back at the Point but it is a great "family" assignment. Keep it touch and if you have a question of "how the corps has|" send it my way.
301,1,Highland Falls Property for Grad Week,Watchdog,Z7,watchdog@ripoffcentral.com,4,15,2001,Maybe I am a little hardcore. Doubtful. But maybe. However| there is a history P (don't know if we should that against him or not) that is renting (read: extorting) his Highland Falls house for Grad Week on EBay for $4|000!! Since Math is not this cat's strong suit| this is $571 a night!!``Did property values shoot up in the last 5 years in the butthole town outside Thayer Gate or is this Ohio State alumnus looking to rip off some firstie's parents?``This dude did not even have a real Beast - or any one for that matter!``I am all for renting a house out if it is a mutually beneficial arrangement| but $4k to hangout next to Schades?``For your amusement and/or shopping pleasure| EBay Item #1228305425.``
343,2,Highland,Chris Green,A4,greenchristop2@hotmail.com,2,5,2002,While I don't feel too sorry for a family who is too lazy to drive from Jersey and pay 1/5 the price they paid for this| I think this fella should be shot for profiting off a cadet's family desperate for a place to stay. There's nothing wrong with renting your house out to make additional income| for you have to have a loyalty to your family and its needs as well. But it has to be somewhat reasonable. I fully understand the beauty of capitalism| but while this gentleman probably had straight A's in Economics| he gets an F in the subjects that count.
315,2,Highland Falls Property for Grad Week,Ebay,A1,,5,30,2001,Some sucker bought this for $4|050. ``Maybe CPT Stark should be sure to report this as income to the IRS.
299,1,Who knows the current value of the class pistols?,Matt Erlacher,B3,mderlacher@earthlink.net,4,11,2001,The idea of getting my class .45 appraised occurred to me the other day and I was wondering if anyone else has done that already. And what the reported value is. Just curious...
297,1,Anyone looking for a job in Huntsville??,John Hall,A4,jnoblehall@yahoo.com,4,11,2001,If anyone is looking for a job in the Huntsville area working on production management let me know. Engelhard is looking for people with leadership experience.
296,1,Jay Miseli anyone?,Matt Erlacher,B3,mderlacher@earthlink.net,4,11,2001,Anyone know where Miseli's at? I heard he's a tank co cdr at Benning but can anyone comfirm this? I'm going to Benning later this spring at wanted to hook up some of us just to catch up...`Thanks.
363,2,Jay Miseli anyone?,Matt Neumeyer,G1,mattneumeyer@hotmail.com,4,19,2002,Matt|
`Jay Miseli is at Fort Benning and currently is commanding HHC| 2d Bn| 69th Armor. He should be in Kuwait on deployment as of 1 Apr 02. I don't have his phone # or address; I am in Kosovo. His benning email account should be Jason.Miseli@benning.army.mil. Hope this helps. Matt Neumeyer
294,1,Retention Stats (Official),Retention Boy,I1,james.craigg@schofield.army.mil,4,10,2001,If you really want to know| our class| as of the end of January 2001| was sitting at exactly 57.7% on active duty. (and based upon the previous months| is declining steadily) These stats came directly from the Institutional Research Office at WP| which is fed directly by PERSCOM. I'll post the February amd March stats when I get them. Expect the numbers to drop dramatically when the aviators end their ADSO around August 2002. (Currently| there are 139 of 141 AV pukes still in - second in retention % only to MC and SF) ``Sincerely|`Jim Craig`Retention Boy``PS - Yes| I'm still in| only because I'm currently enjoying a 3-year vacation in Hawaii.
295,2,Retention Stats (Official),Killer Boy,I1,armie@kqrsrocks.com,4,11,2001,Yea right| like they are the "Offical Stats" Vacation is almost over for me in Hawaii since I will be taking command of an infantry company in 2 weeks.
298,3,Retention Stats (Part 2),Retention Boy,I1,james.craigg@schofield.army.mil,4,11,2001,Hey 'Killer Boy' (i.e. Kramer)| why don't you just confess that you're staying in and taking a company command for one reason: you want to pay off your condo in Waikiki.
300,4,Retention Stats (Part 2),Killer Boy,I1,armie@kqrsrocks.com,4,13,2001,Ya got me there. As a Captain I do make more than flipping burgers at McD's. Hell| I would have to start selling my body rather than sharing it for free.
309,5,Retention Stats (Part 2),Kurt Roberts,I1,kurtandjoy@aol.com,5,7,2001,You two quit whinning. I have the beutiful vacation spot at the lovely NTC. OPFOR Of course.

293,2,Transition,VoR IV,Z1,vor@aol.com,4,9,2001,Dude-posting a message was a mistake. Those head-hunter parasites are cruising this message board all the time. You are going to be inundated with e-mail now.``You are better off getting a job without their "help."
303,3,Transition,bubba gump,A5,bob@hotmail.com,4,22,2001,You're not kidding there| VoR. Maybe they'll offer him the Frito Lay night shift job or perhaps the Sintas (however you spell it) uniform factory job. I mean| hey| it's not the job or location or product or salary that's important. What's important is that a couple people at the factory may be cool and that you are a "high energy self starter who is ready for opportunity." I love head hunters...they're looking out for me! They're not blood suckers who would gladly sell out their rommate who delivered mail and laundry for them because they "had to study" and are currently in the same position they were in a couple years ago when they transitioned. No sir| head hunters are there for us.
306,4,Bubba| you're just mad because I told you to......,Roger,I1,rogercameron@yahoo.com,5,3,2001,....beat it when you interviewed with me.``VR| ``Roger

283,1,As your AOG Class Trustee...,Clayton DeGiacinto,A1,degiacic@wharton.upenn.edu,3,22,2001,As your faithful class trustee I have made the trip to West Point a several times in the past few months.
