CDR Gary A. Cornelison USN (Retired)

Cullum: 29166

Class: '70

Cadet Company: E3

I entered the Army in 1965 upon graduating from high school in Lemoore, CA. Following basic training at Fort Ord I was assigned to the U.S. Military Academy Preparatory School at Fort Belvoir, VA, from which I obtained a Regular Army appointment to West Point, entering in June 1966 with the Class of 1970. Following graduation, I was commissioned in the U.S. Navy where I served in a variety of assignments, including duty in Vietnam as an advisor with Task Force 212 (VNN Riverine Forces), a tour as the Supply Officer of the USS Santa Barbara (AE-28), and many other jobs in a variety of operational and staff assignments, primarily in petroleum logistics. These included assignments at NSC Charleston, NSC Oakland, COMFAIRMED (Naples, Italy), the Navy Petroleum Office, and on the staff of the Commander, U.S. Atlantic Fleet. Following my retirement from the Navy, I established a small business and for 15 years provided operations, maintenance and security services to the Defense Logistics Agency at a number of government owned bulk fuel storage facilities.
