Graduated from Loyola Academy in 1962.. During high school lettered in football, basketball and track. Set a league record while winning the Chicago Catholic League low hurdle championship and 400 yard relay. Attended the University of Wyoming in Laramie on a track scholarship but lost scholarship after a year due to a knee injury that required major surgery. Left school for a few years, was drafted, but bad knee resulted in a medical deferment. Was somewhat active in the anti-war movement that made for some interesting sessions with my siblings.

Completed a BA in Sociology and Psychology in 1970 at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. Worked in counseling field from 1970 to 1976 at Southern Illinois University, the Department of Corrections Work Release program and at a community clinic in Randolph County. Changed careers and went to New York City to study at the Arts Students League for two years and then to Provincetown, Massachusetts (Cape Cod) working as a portrait artist and landscape artist. Produced several video documentaries on fellow artists while working as an artist until 1984. Moved to Truro on Cape Cod and became Program Director of a public access cable television station until 1986.

Became the Senior Producer for a Cable TV production group in Cambridge, Massachusetts and have produced and or directed many national, international, regional and local programs, mostly public affairs specials and educational series. Also produced some Harvard sports broadcasts, auto racing, and professional soccer. Have produced music and dance specials, including the Boston Ballet and the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra, with performers such as YoYo Ma and Bobby McFerrin. Have produced and or directed over 100 national broadcasts for the C-SPAN network including heads of state such as Jimmy Carter, George Bush, Mike Dukakis, Shimon Peres, Mexican President Salinas, Dan Quale and other newsmakers. Also have produced numerous special projects for The Institutes of Contemporay Art in Boston and Seattle, Fidelity Investments, PBS, Financial News Network,and the US Dept of Education (literacy project).

Hobbies have included several years wasted playing almost a thousand games of chess, starting with losing a bunch to my brother Steve. Painting and video started as hobbies that graduated into professions. I like movies, modern dance, small theater, and swimming on Cape Cod, working out and travelling. Have given up para-gliding after a few too many hard landings.

Haven't married yet but have had a few significant relationships including seven years living with fellow artist Jacqueline Andes in New York and five years of close relationship with artist Marylou Blakeslee of Wellfleet on Cape Cod.
