Netiquette Guidelines

Read and be familiar with a group"s FAQ before posting a question to the group.

Before posting to a group, lurk for awhile to get a feel for the nature of the group.

A message"s subject line should accurately identify the content of the message, to facilitate faster navigation by interested or uninterested group members.

If you reply to a message and change the subject matter, either start a new thread (preferable) with a new subject line or rename the subject line to reflect its new focus.

When replying to messages, quote just enough of the previous post to maintain continuity. Clip the rest of the previous post.

When replying to messages, clearly differentiate the previous message from your comments, so that it will be easy to identify who wrote what.

Read and be familiar with a group"s FAQ before posting a question to the group.

If you are forwarding or re-posting a message, don"t change the original wording.

Agree or disagree all you want when responding to a post, but be polite and don"t put-down, belittle, make sarcastic comments, insult or do any name-calling about the message or the messenger.

When you disagree with someone, keep it impersonal and be polite.

Don"t get involved in or respond to Flame Wars.

Remember that Internet communication isn"t completely secure. Don"t write anything in an Email message that you wouldn"t put on a postcard.

Never post chain letters to an internet group.

Read and be familiar with a group"s FAQ before posting a question to the group.

Take care with addressing mail to ensure that you send group messages to the group, and that you don"t send private messages to the group.

Keep private messages private. Don"t post private emails you have received, unless you have permission from the sender.

Keep your Emails and group posts as short as possible. Over 100 lines is considered long.

Don"t post in upper case. UPPER CASE LOOKS AS IF YOU"RE SHOUTING.

Don"t post ads or promotional information without permission.

Don"t be overly critical of grammar mistakes that are made by other posters.

Read and be familiar with a group"s FAQ before posting a question to the group.
