Reward Credits

What is a Reward Credit?  -   A Reward Credit (RC) is the unit of measurement used by Harrah's for determining cashback and comps. RC's would be called 'points' at most non-Harrah's casinos.

What is a Base Reward Credit?  -   A Base RC is earned for every $10 coin-in on video poker or every $5 on reel slot machines.

What is a Bonus Reward Credit?  -   Bonus RC's are extra RC's that are awarded in addition to earned Base RC's. Bonus RC's are based on Harrah's rating (theo) for the machine played, length of time played, whether you win or lose and other factors. At some properties no Bonus RC's are awarded on the better machines.

What are Reward Credits worth?  -   RC's can be redeemed for cash AND for comps. 450 RC's earns $1 of cashback (or bounceback cash) in your cash account and 100 RC's earns $1 in comps in your comp account. Only Base RC's count towards earning VIP tier status, but there isn't any difference between Base and Bonus RC's when redeeming them for cash and comps.

When do Reward Credits expire?  -   RC's don't expire for 6 months, and are banked indefinitely as long as one credit is earned every 6 months.

When does Harrah's have multiple RC days?  -   About once a month and only Base RC's are multiplied. Multiplier dates are listed on the Harrah's web site - for LV properties they're found under 'Special Events' which is a section of 'Events & Entertainment'.

What is the Harrah's Loyalty Program?  -   You earn one Reward Credit for every dollar you spend (cash or credit card) for dining, spas, shows, golf and more at participating outlets. You also earn a Tier Reward Credit for every $5 that you spend.

VIP Tiers

What are the VIP tiers at Harrah's?  -   Gold (everyone qualifies), Platinum (4,000 base RC's in a calendar year) and Diamond (11,000 base RC's in a calendar year).

When does one's VIP status end?  -   VIP cards are valid from 31 March to 31 March, and your status expires on the second 31 March after qualification.

What is the Diamond in a Day (DIAD) option?  -   It is a shortcut to Diamond status. Earn 3,000 Base RC's in one calendar day and you qualify for Diamond. The DIAD option can't be used for a renewal and your Diamond status expires on 31 March of the following year.

What is the Platinum in a Day (PIAD) option?  -   It is a shortcut to Platinum status. Earn 2,000 Base RC's in one calendar day and you qualify for Platinum. The PIAD option can't be used for a renewal and your Platinum status expires on 31 March of the following year.

What is Seven Star status?  -   It is a higher tier than Diamond that isn't included in the official tier hierarchy. It requires 100,000 base RC's in a calendar year and perks include an annual trip, gifts, celebratory dinner, a $500 comp and very preferential treatment. Seven Star members can go to the head of any line (other than a Seven Star line) at Harrah's.

What benefits are available for the VIP tiers?  -   See:   Harrah's Benefit Page

Is there an admission charge to VIP lounges?  -   No, but Diamond Lounges limit admission to a Diamond member and one guest.

What does RFB status mean at Harrah's?  -   It means that all of your food and beverage charges will be comped, after all of your RC's have been exhausted.

Daily Theoretical Loss

What is Theo?  -   Theo is short for 'Theoretical Loss' and can be computed by multiplying a casino's long term hold percentage (Theo percentage) on a machine times coin-in.

What is ADT?  -   ADT is 'Average Daily Theoretical Loss' and it is probably the most important factor that Harrah's uses when awarding perks to players.

How is ADT determined?  -   Harrah's assigns an arbitrary, proprietary Theo percentage to each individual machine, which is multiplied by coin-in to determine the 'Harrah's Theo' in dollars. Divide this figure by the number of days played and you get the ADT.

What is MDV?  -   MDV is 'Market Daily Value' which is your total ADT for all play at all HET properties in a particular market area..

What if my actual loss is more than my theoretical loss?  -   Harrah's uses the actual loss in the ADT calculation if it exceeds the theoretical loss.

Does a 9/6 JoB game have the same Theo percentage at all Harrah's properties?  -   No. Theo percentages can vary from property to property, and within individual properties, for identical machines.

Does it hurt my ADT if I play at more than one Harrah's property in a single day?  -   If you play at three properties on the same day, three separate days will probably be entered into your ADT calculation.

When does a day begin and end at Harrah's?  -   Most Harrah's properties use a 6:00 AM to 6:00 AM day, however midnight to midnight is normally used for PIAD and DIAD qualifications.

How many days does Harrah's use when computing ADT?  -   It appears that they look at three different ADT figures, which they call Prop Scores: your last six days of play (Prop 18), the last year (Prop 19) and the last two years (Prop 20).

Are ADT figures listed anywhere?  -   Prop Scores were listed in the page source of your Harrah's account on their web site (in the 'Traffic Variables' section), but they're no longer there.

You can approximate your daily theoretical by using 20% of the RC's you earn.

How can I maximize my ADT?  -   Find and play on machines that give generous Bonus RC's (they probably have a high Theo percentage) and manage your play and comp usage intelligently. Concentrate your play and comp usage on fewer days when you're playing a significant amount.

What triggers a trip for ADT purposes?  -   Any day that you play, use a comp or swipe your TR card will probably result in the inclusion of that day in your ADT calculations.

Is a trip triggered by a hotel stay or a VIP lounge visit?  -   Neither of these used to trigger a trip, but there have been reports that they may now.

General Information

Comp RC's can be used at any Harrah's property.

RC's can be earned (and the expiration date extended) by using a Harrah's Visa card.

Mail offers for hotel stays are based on past play and don't reduce your RC balance.

Most Marketing offers aren't deducted from your RC balance.

Hosts can over-ride the Rewards Program to take care of 'good' players.

Hosts don't usually give discretionary comps until all RC's are used up.

The ADT calculation doesn't consider discretionary or marketing comps received.

Your 'Dominant Property' is the casino where you've had the most trips. Basic offers for rooms, point multipliers and other low-end offers come from any property where you have met their play requirements; Premium offers come from your dominant property and are for upscale gifts and other promotions (based on your play at your dominant property); National offers are based on your overall play at all Harrahs properties and includes offers for trips to other Harrahs casinos with airfare being paid or charters.

Reward Credit earnings are non-transferable including death and divorce.

Pull your card after about 500 base points earned to avoid losing points if casino still uses old systems.

The rate that a machine awards Bonus RC's is probably directly related to its Harrah's Theo percentage.
