Classmates - I regret to report to you that Bill Wix died this
morning - after a battle of a year and a half with cancer that
started as lung cancer. He was with Rebecca and the children at his
death in Memphis - TN. Very preliminarily - services at WP might be
on Friday - Nov. 5th. Subject to the family's wishes in the matter,
I will post arrangements as they become final. Should you need it,
my better email address is dwheeler@whi-inc.com. Dave Wheeler 31 Oct 1999 Willy and I spent 4 years in F2 and then our paths never crossed during our Army days. Willy was an All American Soccer player and a top notch student. He led an Academic life - earning his PhD from Columbia in Political Science. Willy served his country well - he will be missed. Willy Welter October 31 - 1999 Bill was one of Scotty's soccer buddies - classmates & best friends - he was there for us when we lost our Father as small children - and had re-entered my life 3 years ago. He was a kind and compassionate man who shared his memories of my family before and after Scotty's death - answering questions for me that only he could. I called him Uncle Billy and it was an honour to have had him in my life if only for a split second. We have lost yet another shining star from a group of men who personify kindness - compassion and loyalty. And wings of angels guide thee to thy peace Uncle Billy - thank you so very much for the memories. Love always, Peggy Peggy Adams November 1 - 1999 1955 has lost a true friend - of everyone - with the passing of Bill Wix. As cliched as it may sound - to know him was to love him - because Bill had time and concern for everyone. He was gifted with the ability to focus all his attention and all his concern on his loved ones - and his Classmates. With this he he always had a ready smile and a good word for everyone. Few will match him - none will surpass him in this. Rest well - dear Friend - how richly you deserve it. Chuck Roades November 1 - 1999 Willy and I played soccer together for 4 years at USMA. Though he went into the Army and I to the USAF - we shared several visits during the early 60's when I coached the USAFA soccer team and Willy worked with Joe Palone and the Army team. It was always a treat to catch up with him and we corresponded infrequently over the years. Lynn and I will miss him. Condolences to Rebecca and his family. Bob and Lynn Strickland Bob Strickland '55 20374 November 1 - 1999 Hello to all of Bill's classmates: Thanks to each and every one of you for your thoughts - prayers and concerns over the past 14 months as Bill has been dealing with his lung cancer. He went to the Father peacefully Sunday morning at 9:35. He fought a valiant fight - and as I told him last week - he really DID win the fight - because he's not hurting at all any more. Again - thanks to all of you for your support to both Bill and me during this most trying time in our lives. He was loved by so many people - and that has helped us tremendously through it. We love you, Rebecca 2 Nov 1999 Bill was a good friend. I will miss him. Tom Sims October 17 - 2001 |
