I have to admit I did not know Joe very well. However - we were in the same battalion at West Point - so I saw him often. We had similar interests in Latin languages. In the summer of 1954 - Joe and I wound up taking our summer leaves in the same place - Bloomington - Indiana. That summer - I saw a lot of Joe. We double-dated two beautiful Hoosier girls and had a lot of fun. I wish I had known Joe better. He was an outstanding person. Jim Ryan December 20 - 2001
