Rawleigh Ralls was a classmate and company E-1 mate. We had a lot of fun together as cadets - but were never stationed together in the service. He got out and became a consulting economist and I got out and became a lawyer and then a judge. In about 1990 - he came to California to testify at a trial - up in the San Francisco Bay area - as an expert economist. He called and invited Helga and me up for dinner in The City. We of course were happy to see him after many years - and had a great time reminiscing and talking about the antics of trial lawyers. The next day a big bouquet of flowers was delivered to Helga - in a way to arouse maximum suspicion - from her "secret admirer" - who later turned out to be Rawleigh. Ever the southern gentleman. Rest in peace - old friend. You did well. Robert M. Hinrichs, USMA Class of 1955 July 27 - 2001 |
