Where does one start when you describe Jack Matteson? I first knew him as just a boy at Braden's Prep School in Cornwall-on-Hudson - NY where he - along with 16 others were attempting to prepare for that big entry into the US Military Academy. Jack was a little out of place because he was already well prepared academically - physically - and mentally for the rigors of the ensuing four years. Even at that young age - he was willing to help those of us who were not quite so well prepared. Many times that would entail staying at the school on Saturdays and Sundays when activities in nearby NYC and Newburg were ever so inviting. There was no better friend and though all the Braden Boys remained close - I will always remember him as a very special friend and classmate.
