After our 45th reunion, in May of 1997 our daughter , Jill, presented us with our second grandson, Austin. Previously she and her
husband, Will, had given us our only other grandson, Ian, in June 1992. Our son Alan, and wife, Debbie, are hoping for children soon. Bill and Carolyn, in July of 1997, enjoyed their vacation to Hawaii where Bill had previously been stationed at the Naval Air Station, Barber"s Point for two years (1957-1959). The last few years Bill has played a lot of golf and Carolyn has enjoyed "scrapbooking." Serving in their church, enjoying grandchildren and vacationing with family has kept them busy as well.

Biography (2001)
I was born 11-16-33 in Stamps. My parents were Jessie Dallas and Nena Estelle (Minter) Kuykendall. There were seven children: Helen, Edward, Bill, Jean, Ray, Darrell and Jerry.
After graduating from SHS in 1951, and deciding that playing football at Ouachita College wasn"t for me, I enrolled at Southern State College in Magnolia, Arkansas. Familiar faces at SSC were Ann Williams, Ann Hudgens, Leonard Benefield, Clara Hamm, Jim Farley, Kalene Thomas, Edward Hatfield, Myrtle Sue Peck and the following year U.B. Bond, and maybe more from our class of '51.
Perhaps because of the above support I was elected President of the Sophomore Class and later that year Vice-Pres. Elect of the Student Body for 1953-54. My Campaign Manager was, guess who, U.B. Bond!! I also played on the Conference champion SSC Tennis team, albeit an insignificant role. My days at SSC were over--I transferred to William Jewell College in Liberty, Mo.
After my final two years at William Jewell I graduated inchampion. Teaching and coaching had to wait, Uncle Sam wanted me!!!
I volunteered to go to the U.S. Navy Officers Candidate School (OCS) in Newport, R.I. But wait!! I was told to report in June, 1956 to OCS. So until then I took a Coaching job at Dierks, Ar, coaching High school boys and Freshman boys basketball teams. My Freshman
team won the County tournament but the high school team did not do well.
OCS In June,1956 was followed by Navy schools in Jacksonville, FL, the Pentagon, Brunswick, GA , and finally to Barber"s Point Naval Air Station in Hawaii where as a radar officer flying from Midway Island to the Aleutian Islands I logged almost 1300 hrs. I left the Navy in August, 1959 right after Hawii became a state.
Enrolling at the U. of Missouri, Fall,1959 I received my Masters in Education degree, August, 1960. Fall, 1960 I began teaching at
Hixson Junior High School, Webster Groves MO and for 35 years taught Physical Education and coached football, basketball, track and
golf, retiring June, 1995.
I married Loretta Carolyn Everly on Nov. 21, 1964. We have one daughter, Jill, one son, Alan, and two grandsons, Ian and Austin. I spend most of my time now being active in my church, winning a few golf tournaments, enjoying family and some travel (Carolyn and I
went to Hawaii in 1997). I enjoy E-Mail with classmates, Reunions, and have visited with U. B. and Jenny in Texas.

Billy (Bill) Douglas Kuykendall
(November 16th, 1933 to April 3rd, 2019)
Billy (Bill) Douglas Kuykendall, passed away on April 3, 2019 at the age of 85.
Born in Stamps, Arkansas on November 16th, 1933 in the Kuykendall home, he was the third child of seven children born to Jessie Dallas and Nena Estelle Kuykendall.
Bill met the love of his life Loretta Carolyn Everly at Webster Groves Baptist Church in 1960. They were married on November 21, 1964 at the church where they met. They had two children.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and 5 siblings: sisters - Marjorie "Helen" Sparrow and Wanda "Jean" Wilson; and brothers - Dallas Edward "Ed" Kuykendall, Raymond "Ray" Cloyce Kuykendall, and Jerry Harold Kuykendall.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Loretta "Carolyn" (Everly) Kuykendall and their two children: Jill (Will) Blaylock and Alan (Debbie) Kuykendall; grandchildren, Ian, Austin, Jesse, and Malia, his brother, Darrell Wayne (Francis) Kuykendall and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bill was very active in his church. He served as a deacon for many years. He also chaired and served on many committees in the church. From leading music on one occasion (don"t ask about his singing), to hosting church in his own home when the furnace would not work, to crawling under the church building to find the source of a foul smell that turned out to be a dead opossum, Bill did it all! He had a servant"s heart.
Bill graduated from Stamps High School in 1951 playing football as quarterback (nicknamed "Radar" by the local newspaper) basketball and tennis; William Jewell College in 1955 playing tennis; and the University of Missouri at Columbia in 1960 with a Master"s degree. Bill was the first of his siblings to go to college and was an encouragement to his younger brother, Darrell Kuykendall, to become a college graduate as well.
In his early adult years he enjoyed playing golf and tennis. Later he spent time watching these sports on TV along with football and baseball. He was also a voracious reader. Bill served in the Navy from 1956 to 1959. He served in Hawaii at Barbers Point Naval Air Station. He was the radar officer on a Lockheed WV-2 Super Constellation aircraft. Bill also worked in the Webster Groves School District for 35 years as a PE teacher at Hixson Junior High School, retiring in 1995. Bill touched the lives of many young men during their early teen years as a teacher. Several former students have called him as adults thanking him for sharing his love of God and the hope of knowing Jesus with them. At various times during his 35 years in the Webster Groves School District he coached football, golf, tennis, and girls" freshman basketball. Bill worked for the Webster Groves Recreation Department in the summers teaching golf and organizing the umpires for the city youth baseball league.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Sunday, April 7th and services will be at 10 a.m., Monday, April 8, both at Webster Groves Baptist Church, 308 Summit Ave., Webster Groves, MO 63119.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Webster Groves Baptist Church - the place that was central to the family life of Bill, Carolyn, Jill and Alan. Carolyn still calls this her church home and attends on a regular basis.
