Colonel (Retired) Robert S. Riley is a native of West Point, Hardin County, Kentucky,  He is a graduate of the former Castle Heights Military Academy (High School) in Lebanon, Tennessee, and is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York, where he earned a B.S. Degree in Engineering.  Also, he holds a Masters Degree in International Affairs from Columbia University in New York City and a Masters Degree in Public Administration from the University of Oklahoma, Norman, Oklahoma.  Upon graduation from West Point, Colonel Riley was commissioned a 2d Lieutenant in the Field Artillery and has served seven years overseas in Korea, Japan, and Vietnam.  His one year service in Korea and his two years service in Vietnam were under combat conditions.  And, he has served at different Army posts in the United States.  Colonel Riley retired from the U.S. Army in 1978 and has since resided in Lawton, Oklahoma.  Although he has lived nearly all of his adult life out of the State of Kentucky, he is proud of his Kentucky heritage and still considers himself a Kentuckian.  Colonel Riley is a descendent of Hugh Riley, Sr., of Prince George's County, Colonial Maryland, who was born in 1653 on the Tidewater Frontier and who died circa 1736-40.
