Carl grew up in Arkansas and attended Marion
Institute for several years prior to entering West Point. He
received appointment from the 2nd Congressional District of Arkansas.
Carl was very active during his cadet years in social activities
and special interest activities. He was a Hop Manager for all
four cadet years and a member of the Fishing Club, the Skeet
Club, the Radio Club and the Russian Club for his final three
years as a cadet. Upon graduation, Carl chose Field Artillery
as his branch and served for a brief period as a professional
soldier. Upon completion of the Basic Artillery Officer Course
at Ft. Sill, OK, Carl was assigned to the 1st Armored Div. at
Ft. Hood in 1951, and then to the 25th Infantry Division in Korea
during the 1952-1953 period. He earned a bronze Star Medal for
his service in Korea. After returning to the U.S. he resigned
from the Army.
After leaving the Army, Carl started a
very successful civilian career. He was the District Sales Manager
and Washington Representative for the Flintcote Co.; the Manager
of Federal Affairs and Assistant to
the President, American Petroleum Institute; and a business consultant.
He also became an independent oil and gas producer and investor
in the U.S.A and Canada, as well as the Founder and Chairman
of three Investment Corporations. Carl was an enthusiastic golfer.
Carl died of a heart attack. He is survived
by two sons, two daughters, and a sister.
