RE: USMA 1951 YOUR LIFE 1951 To 2001 - The Hard Cover Published Book

I, Jose Andres (Andy) Chacon, Cullum No. 18250, am solely responsible for any errors. My sources are the records of the Association of Graduates, our fine Class Year Book, the Pentagon, and sometimes the print media. My labor of love began in 1996 after the 45th.

Special thanks go to the Association of Graduates, in particular to Colonel Julian M. Olejniczak (1961), VP for Publications, who early on gave his permission to use the Register as a database for the project. He also admonished at the time that perhaps some of the absent obits from the class might be completed as a result of my efforts. I know of at least one that was. This project has had its tribulations but overall it has been a labor of love. I apologize for any errors or omissions, they were not made intentionally, please be assured.

I am fortunate in having the support of my beloved Isabel, who doubles as my Editor, and my family who have encouraged my writings of all genres. My daughters; Dolores, Cecilia, and Monica along with their splendid husbands, John Alleva, Leonard Klevan, and Doug Glenn, respectively; have expressed their support by upgrading my hardware and software so that I am state of the art. My grandchildren, Paul Klevan and Alex Klevan inspired me by shaming me into action to learn to work the web and learn several software packages.

Several classmates encouraged and assisted my efforts, without which this work would not have been possible. Some of those who helped directly are Sam Dickens, Bruno Giordano, Al Akers, Lou Michael, Stan Sheridan, Pete Foss, Jim Guyer, Charlie Gildart, Dick Breakiron, Dave Abshire, Peyton Cook, Sandy Cortner, Dick Haggren, Tom Hirsch, Bob Howes, Gerry Carlson, John Croan, Harry Lombard, Bill Monsos, Walt Russell, Frank Vellella, Peter Matthews, Bill Richardson, Frank Winfield, Del Ring, Tom Odderstol, John Spach, George Psihas, Francis Craig and Frank Sheriff.

Those who helped indirectly are Dick Breakiron and Fred Rockwell.

RE: USMA 1951 YOUR LIFE 1951 To PRESENT - The E-Book

The first project was the Class Bulletins of which the most comprehensive was USMA Briefing. In the process I developed a Class DataBase. Later I undertook to have deceased classmate George Gividen inducted to the Rangers Hall of Fame. I also assisted in the effort to have Joe Clemens designated as a Distinguished Graduate. In 2001 I published USMA '51 YOUR LIFE 1951-2001 which is presently being converted and updated as an E-Book, i.e. no plans to publish it but to keep it as a blog. Changes every day. I keep it as current as I can.

Larry Mintz, Ted Picado and Joe Clarke jumped in right away. Frank Sisson followed soon thereafter. It took some explaining but Lew Casbon really produced once he understood. Same for Jack Martin. Betsy DeRamus and Marie Foss got on board quickly but I have not heard from other widows. I am placing them right along with the living classmates in pictures with their respective deceased husbands. Will add a short bio if provided same. The present pictures will be replaced as I receive more "up to date" pictures from you. "Luke" will do for the time being on some of you.

Isabel, somehow puts up with it all. We both suffer from aches and pains, she is diabetic and can't walk.
