West Point, through OSJA has started cracking down on the use of
trademark images, sending threatening cease and desist letters to graduates and
parent clubs across the country, even for websites that clearly support
West Point, Cadets, and/or our deceased graduates. The USMA trademark
images, words, and colors can be found by clicking here . Permission must be obtained for use of the images. The guidelines for obtaining permission can be found by clicking on this link
. OSJA is also requiring that all related sites include this
disclaimer: “DISCLAIMER: This organization is privately owned and

LTC Arnold Tucker, USMA 1947, and former UM and Army star, was recently inducted to the
College Football Hall of Fame. He played at Miami High and was a legend
there. He won the Sullivan Award as the nation's best amateur athlete
in 1947. He is at home in South Dade holding the football they sent him. Read More... |

Volunteers participate in drills — and have instructors bark at them

Associated Press The senior spent hours with the civilian volunteers polishing his
form for reception day, or "R-Day," for the Class of 2012. At mock
R-Day on June 27, he practiced the finer points of leaning close to
mock plebes and pouncing on people who smirked. "THIS IS FUNNY?" Davies screamed at one volunteer. "YOU ARE WASTING MY TIME!"

Effective immediately, by order of the Superintendent, the words to the West Point Alma Mater, and "The Corps" have been changed to make them gender inclusive.2 June, 2008 Fellow members of the Long Gray Line,
I’m
writing to let you know that I have in fact decided to update the
lyrics to our Alma Mater and The Corps. The realization that these
songs explicitly exclude our women graduates–two of whom have given
their lives in battle–was the driving force behind the changes, and
it's simply the right thing to do. I have received unanimous support
for this decision from the Board of Visitors and the Executive Steering
Group, whose members are the Secretary of the Army, the Army Chief of
Staff, and the Army Vice Chief of Staff.

Over spring break 10 cadets and 2 members of the academy faculty traveled
to New Orleans, LA in order to volunteer their time and effort in restoring the
Lakeview Area. Following Katrina the neighborhood had been under eight feet of

Pacific edition, Tuesday, March, 25, 2008 “I had a normal artillery career, until now,” said Haynes, a graduate of the
United States Military Academy in 1994. Now, Haynes’ major job is to be
around when people need him. Japanese officers
stop by his office to ask for help with translation, to update him on
meeting other foreign dignitaries, and often to invite him to
after-work parties. “His door is always open,” said Chiba, the Japanese
general. “We can work with him in our perspective. It is great.” |
The Black Knights are led by Olympic air rifle qualifier Steven Scherer and World Cup participant Chris Abalo. Last
month Scherer, 19, became only the third West Point shooter to qualify
for the Olympics and the first since 1936. He will be the first active
cadet to compete at the Olympics since 1960, and the 86th West Pointer

COL Whitehouse, the oldest living graduate at 105, died quietly in his sleep on February 13, 2008. He was born in Fredericksburg, VA and entered the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in 1923 through the Virginia National Guard. He graduated four years later and left the military in 1929. The day after Pearl Harbor was attacked he re-enlisted. By the time he resigned in 1957 as a full colonel, he had served served in North Africa, Italy, France and Germany, and earned two Bronze Stars. Following his military retirement, he worked at the The Babston Institute until 1991 when he finally retired from work but remained active until his death.
He is survived by two children, 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. His son is a graduate of the West Point class of '65.
