BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING
26 February 2001
1. ATTENDANCE. The Board of Directors of the West Point Society of South Texas (WPSST) met at Luby's at Central Park Mall, and convened at 1835 hours. Present and constituting a quorum were Barth, Bertolett, Best, Betts, Bivins, Foreman, Hogan, Koehler, Marshall, McLaughlin, Prewitt-Campbell, Schulz, and Thuss. 2. SECRETARY'S REPORT. (Koehler '76 ) The Minutes of the 29 January 2001 Board Meeting were reviewed. Resolved (Thuss/Barth) to accept the Minutes as read. Approved unanimously. 3. TREASURER'S REPORT. (Best, '74) Report for 26 February 2001 was submitted. Resolved (Schulz/Thuss) to accept the Treasurer's Report as published. Approved unanimously.. 4. COMMITTEE REPORTS: ADMISSIONS: (Reported by Griffin, '58). No report due to the absence of Griffin. MEMBERSHIP: (Reported by Coonan, '66). No report due to the absence of Coonan. PROGRAMS: (Reported by Barth '70). Founders Day 2001. a. Randolph Officers Club has a good sound system for both speakers and music. b. Oldest graduate has been identified. Waiting for RSVPs to identify the youngest graduate. c. Cole and Barth will prepare the programs. d. McLaughlin will print and mail out the flyer/invitation for Founders Day tomorrow. e. The door prize, gift for the guest speaker, and farewell plaques for departing board members have been coordinated. f. Barth will determine the time for set up, and will notify the board via e-mail. Tentatively, meet at 1300 on 16 March 2001. 5. OLD BUSINESS: a. McLaughlin submitted the following slate of officers for 2001/2002. Resolved (Bivins/Barth) to accept the slate as presented. Programs for 2001. The board agreed on the following program: April - Support Rugby Team. May Luncheon - TRICARE Guest Speaker. September Luncheon - DEA Guest Speaker. October - Annual Family Picnic. November - TBD. January - General Membership Meeting 6. NEW BUSINESS: a. Additional Board Members. McLaughlin recommended the following new board members: Robin Hogan, '85 and Daryl Harris, '81. The Board approved McLaughlin offering officially a position on the Board to those two individuals. (Bertolett/Thuss) Approved unanimously. b. McLaughlin discussed Bicentennial Funding Request. c. McLaughlin reviewed Army Football schedule for 2001. d. Founders Day 2002. McLaughlin recommended the board reserve a date and location as soon as possible. There was some discussion as to whether we should tie into the daytime celebration in conjunction with West Point over C-Span or tape that for later and find our own local speaker. It was decided to send a survey out after Founders Day. e. AmericanVet.com. McLaughlin discussed this web site. 7. The meeting adjourned (Best/Bertolett) by unanimous consent at 1948 hours. 8.
