Message from the Society President, Joel DanielsIf you live within this area, we extend to you a special invitation to join or renew your membership in our Society. Membership is open to graduates, former cadets meeting the Association of Graduates' criteria for Associate Membership, parents of graduates or cadets, and graduates of other service academies. Please visit our Membership page to submit your application to join. The West Point Society of Savannah (WPSS) places a strong emphasis on service to the young people in the Coastal Georgia area. The West Point Society of Savannah sponsors the annual Coastal Empire Conference on Ethical Behavior for high school students, held in November. We also run the Travis Award for Excellence program, which recognizes outstanding juniors in regional public and private high schools. WPSS members are active in Academy recruiting efforts and participate in area college days. In conjunction with the West Point Parents Club of Savannah, we hold a sendoff picnic in June for new West Point Cadets. We are very appreciative of the Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum here in Savannah, one of America's premier military museums, for partnering with us and providing facilities and administrative support for the Ethics Conference. Throughout the year, the WPSS organizes several social activities for society members, to include luncheon and supper meetings, many with a guest speaker; an Army-Navy football classic get-together; and an annual Founders Day Dinner. We invite you to learn more about our activities by visiting the pages shown on the left margin. In commemoration of the Bicentennial of West Point in 2002, our Society published the book, Entwined Destinies authored by our own James Mack Adams, a Friend of West Point. This engaging book paints a 200-year panoramic view of the historical linkage between West Point and Georgia's Coastal Empire. You can order your own copy by clicking on the Entwined Destinies link to the left. On behalf of the West Point Society of Savannah, we invite you to join us, to get involved in our activities, to share in the great fellowship, and to make a positive difference in our great community and in the future of West Point.
