Ethics Conference

Today our country is faced with a crisis in ethical behavior. In 2002 members of the West Point Society of Savannah became concerned about the unethical practices of public figures and corporations as reported in the press. The Society felt that the consequence of this behavior is manifested in a lack of trust in our senior leadership and a serious lack of good role models for our young people. Deciding that it was time to be part of the solution, the Society organized the first Coastal Empire Conference on Ethical Behavior. The Ethics Conference is an opportunity for public and private high school students from all walks of life to learn more about ethics in everyday life. Much of the conference involves dynamic group exercises and not just passive lectures. The Society coordinates with West Point cadets from the area to come from the Academy and work with the students. Many of the cadets came to Ethics conference themselves in years past. The desired outcome of the conference is to motivate student attendees to work closely with educators in improving high school programs that teach our young people the importance of establishing and maintaining high moral and ethical values in their lives.
