Our guest speaker is Ed Lorentzen’s cousin Dr. Humboldt C. Mandell, Jr., a 40-year veteran of the NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston. When he retired in 2003, he was manager of the Exploration Programs Office for Moon and Mars Exploration. He has maintained his contacts with NASA and is currently a Research Fellow at the UT Center for Space, and Chairman of the University of Texas FORUM continuing education program. This last Jan-Feb 2017, he conducted a 6-session seminar entitled “People to Mars – Are We Ready?”
