The Career Transition Network is a community service activity sponsored by the West Point Society of Atlanta. It is open to all current and former military officers, regardless of service or source of commission. This overview of the Career Transition Network has four parts:
1. FACT SHEETThe Career Transition Network, sponsored by the West Point Society of Atlanta and supported by the Naval Academy Alumni Association of Atlanta, is a networking group designed to help service academy graduates who are undergoing a career transition. Membership is also open to all current or former military officers, regardless of service or source of commission. We are fortunate to have a Support Network consisting of about 250 West Pointers and Annapolis graduates, all locally employed in various industries, who are available for advice and information interviews. We do not expect these persons to provide jobs or job leads. They are, however, a valuable resource. When calling them, please state that you are a member of the Career Transition Network. 2. 4. EXPECTATIONS AND OBLIGATIONS OF MEMBERSOur mission is to help one another during the career transition and job search process. The help we provide one another comes in the form of information, advice, job leads, and support. For the group to function effectively, we must rely on each member to contribute. So to become a member of the group and enjoy the rights and benefits of membership, you must agree to the following: Contribute job leads to the group. Call the leads to the chairman. Recruit and be a sponsor of new members.
Call alumni and current network to compare notes about your career transition and job search and share ideas. Inform the chairman of any roster changes you learn of-- new phones, addresses, etc. After you get a job:
As military officers, we dedicated ourselves to selfless service to the nation. In this group, we pledge to provide selfless service to one another. |
