Golf Outing 2014

The 9th Annual Golf Outing, held jointly with the Air Force Academy Parents Club of Eastern Michigan on July 27th, was a huge success.  The twenty-four teams (10-Army and 14-Air Force) competed for eleven contests.  Door Prizes included four rounds of golf on Mackinac Island at the Grand Hotel’s Course, a 32-inch TV, Tickets to several Detroit Tigers and Lions Games, and many more. Each and every golfer, as well as their friends & family that joined us for dinner, went home with prizes donated by generous vendors.

Army carried the day with the low team award.  The team captained by Harlene Coutteau won one of the three SKINs (with an Ace on Hole 11).  Troy Taylor’s father won his choice of a new driver or a new watch.  Prizes were also awarded for Longest Drive, Straightest Drive, Longest Putt, Closest to the Hole, and Putting Contest. The Cash Hole was also a popular event, with golfers attempting to double their money by wagering they could land a ball on the green with their drive.

Much thanks to Dawn and Alec Fritz, Sarah Moon, Ed Okorn and the Air Force volunteers.  Neither the chaos at the registration table prior to teeing off, nor the confusion created by the monsoon that prompted an early finish could deter the enthusiasm of the crowd.  They cheered loudly as Dawn Fritz called winner after winner to collect their prizes, including a record-setting $675 awarded to the 50/50 pot winner!

See you next year on the links!
