Class of 2014 - Class Pistol

(1) The order form and deposit (non-refundable payment) are due in the hands of the Cadet in Charge no later than 15 January 2014. Yes, it's a relatively short window of opportunity. These pistols will be specially made by Colt and this is a one-time offer. There will be no repeat runs - it's now or never.

(2) The Pistol Team has asked West-Point.Org to create a credit card site for the purchase of the pistols. Utilizing the credit card site will greatly decrease the amount of paperwork the Cadet in Charge has to do.

The convenient credit card site can be found at:
https://secure.west-point.org/usma-pistol/

In addition to ease of ordering, the credit card site provides a wealth of information on the pistols, including pictures of the two pistols being offered.

(3) If you prefer to pay by check, you must print out the order form, (link on the credit card site referenced above) complete the buyer information form and send it to the Pistol Team, along with your check for the non-refundable total first payment, payable to West Point Pistol Team. The form and check must be received NLT 15 January. The address is:

West Point Pistol Team
PO Box 176
West Point, NY 10996

Cadets may, of course, print out the form and hand it in, along with proper payment, directly to the CIC, Cadet Shane Greene

(4) Pistol sales are open to any / all members of the West Point community, and you are not limited to the number you order. However, there is a significant price reduction for the first pistol ordered by a cadet (and only a cadet - not the parent for the cadet).

(5) There are two pistols being specially made for the Class of 2014. Both pistols are genuine Colt Government Model 45 Caliber pistols, engraved by Baron Engraving out of Trumbull, CT.
* Stainless Pistol model is O1091Z - the 2014 Class pistol with stainless slide is being sold at the price of $1350 - with the non-refundable deposit being $700 ($625 initial deposit fee if this is the first pistol ordered by the cadet) The total cost of the stainless pistol for a cadet is $1225 if this is the first (or only) pistol ordered by the cadet (a $125 discount for the cadet on a one-time purchase).
* Blued Pistol model is O1991Z - the 2014 Class pistol with blued side is being sold at the price of $ 1650 each - with the non-refundable deposit being $850 ($810 if this is the first pistol ordered by the cadet). The total cost of the blued pistol for a cadet is $1510 if this is the first (or only) pistol ordered by the cadet (a $140.00 discount for the cadet on the one time purchase).

Please remember that if a cadet wishes to purchase both pistols, he / she will ONLY receive a discount on one pistol.

(6) NOW is the time to discuss the pistol purchase with your son / daughter. In the past, many parents have purchased the pistol for their son / daughter as a graduation present - but it can't be done as a surprise - not only as there are two different models from which to choose, but also because it makes financial sense for the cadet him/herself to place the order and get the benefit of the price reduction on one pistol.

Many cadets delay ... and come graduation time, lament that they did not order a Class pistol. This is a one-time offering ...and once the order goes in to the Colt manufacturing company, there are no additional orders taken or pistols made.

The deposit is non-refundable and is due NLT 15 January, and the balance is due NLT 15 March - along with the required shipment form and information from the licensed gun dealer who will accept delivery of the pistol.

(7) Cadets are not required to purchase a pistol, but many, particularly the members of the Class of 2014, may wish to purchase the pistol made with their Class crest. Many cadets are gun owners and this will most assuredly be a collector's piece. All other cadets are able to purchase the 2014 pistol - as are any members of the public - but the ordering window is very small. I know that, in the past, there have been at least a few cadets who purchased the Class pistol of each of the four years that they were at the Academy. Many others chose to purchase only their Class pistol ... some chose not to purchase a pistol at all

It is because of all the combinations and permutations that it is suggested that you discuss the purchase with your son and daughter .... don't try to make the purchase as a surprise, as there will be no cost savings and you may well find that you make a purchase of an unwanted item (or even that they had already ordered one themselves).

(8) The cadet does NOT have to be the person designated on the form to be the person picking up the pistol. The cadet can designate anyone to take possession of the pistol, as long as it complies with all state laws (see the website and check your state laws).

(9) The cadet may officially make the purchase - even if they use Mom or Dad's credit card to pay for the purchase..... In other words, you can still make the present, but have your son / daughter do the ordering.
