Operation Support Our Troops (OSOT)

A great big “thank you” to everyone that has made neck coolers, knit hats, brought in food items or donated cash to the Club to help support our participation in OSOT. Because of your generosity and commitment, the Club was able to send out 56 boxes to our soldiers last year. Keep in mind that the boxes that we send are always close to 35 lbs each. That is quite a few pounds of boodle that we sent to our troops! Each and every one of you that is helping to fill our boxes is making a difference for many of our soldiers.

I know we ask you this often, but could each one of you take some time and write a “generic” letter to our soldiers? What do I mean by generic? Keep your letter free of current news and sports events, free of seasonal greeting and so on. Make it a letter from the heart, just letting this soldier know how much they are appreciated. If your letter is truly “generic” it can be used over and over again. Every soldier loves to receive mail and we will copy and include each “generic” letter with each box that we send.

We need your help, everyone can get involved. Please continue to sew the neck coolers. Once again we will need as many as all of us can make. When those temperatures start climbing past the 100 degree mark in Iraq, the neck coolers come in mighty handy.

For our meetings bring your letters, neck coolers, gum, hard candy, granola bars, beef sticks, used paperback books, playing cards. Bring food items that can hold up to the heat. We are always happy for checks (made out to WPPC of MI) and cash donations. We thank you for all your generous support for our soldiers!
Drew Williams said to tell all of you that the OSOT boxes he's received are AWESOME and his "guys" love it when one comes in. "It has been a great morale booster, especially when coming off patrol or when the guys are back at their patrol base pulling guard duty."

As always, if you know of a WP graduate, or a Michigan soldier that is deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan, please send us their address. It can be a neighbor, family member or friend, we are honored to have the opportunity to send them a box of “back home love and goodies” from our Club. We want our soldiers to know how much we appreciate them and all the sacrifices they are making.
