This past Saturday, September 18, we held the Tailgate Party at West Point.  Special thanks go out to Ann Sattler and crew for a great event.  It was a beautiful day at West Point with temperatures in the mid-70s under sunny skies.  Army defeated North Texas 24-0.

The Superintendent  LTG Huntoon , his wife, the Dean,  BG Timothy Trainor and his wife Col. Brazil all visited the tailgate and spent time talking with our parents and cadets.  As you may recall, BG Timothy Trainor is the son of our long time members Jim and Janet Trainor.  It was a proud day at the Michigan tent.  You can see pictures of Jim and Janet at their son’s promotion ceremony by joining his facebook page.  Just search for Dean of Academics West Point and join the page (click here to go to his facebook page).

We also had in attendance 2001 Grad, Michigan’s own CPT John Faunce, his wife Gretchen, and their beautiful new daughter.  John is stationed at West Point and is studying to be a TAC officer.  I’ve said many times that we’re fortunate to have such active grad parents in our club.  Jim and Lou Steenstra along with Bob and Michelle Darket traveled to West Point to help with the party.  We also had Brent Clark, a Grad Brother was there to help.

Cadets and parents enjoyed a campfire complete with s’mores and popcorn to finish the night.

I want to thank all of you who helped with the tailgate in anyway.  Even those that did not go helped with donations of money and boodle to make the event so successful.

I wanted to pass a thanks along to all of you from our Michigan Plebes.  They were all very appreciative of the boodle boxes.

I look forward to seeing many of you at the Army/Air Force Party on November 6.

GO ARMY!

Regards,
Mike Lemieux
President, West Point Parents Club of Michigan
