Firstie Parents Celebrate 100th Night

100th night was celebrated on 20 February. While our Firsties were celebrating this milestone, the parents were partying and telling stories about their cadets. Four of our cadets will be stationed at Ft. Lewis.

WA Cadet is Reserve High Point Rider

Equestrian Team, Flemington NJ
The West Point Equestrian Team placed first in the region-wide IHSA English show this past Sunday at Briarwood Farm in New Jersey. The team had a phenomenal day, qualifying 2 more riders for Regionals, bringing the total number of qualifiers for this year to 9 cadets. By placing first in this competition, the team defeated last year’s National Champions, Centenary College. Outstanding Individual Cadet Accomplishments: Regina Woronowicz (2011, F2) earned the title of Reserve High Point Rider for the competition by placing first in highest division, Open Fences and second in Open Flat. Additional riders who took first were Aryn Davis (2011, A2) in Beginner Walk Trot Canter and Christine Jordan (2013, H2) in Walk Trot. Phil Mercadante (2013, D1) took second place in his division, Walk Trot.

Regina is the daughter of Bo Woronowicz and Mary Ellen Mullen. Congratulations!

Valentine’s Boodle Bash

Annual Club Elections and General Meeting

Saturday February 6, 11:00am to 3:00 pm

Patriot’s Landing, 1600 Marshall Circle, DuPont, WA

We will have a catered lunch (menu to be emailed soon) and not a pot luck this year, but I think you’ll enjoy the venue and the food. This is a fun event and I hope you can attend. Keep an eye on this site: more information will be available soon!

Boxes will be provided, but please bring boodle to share for 50 cadets. The cost for lunch is $6.00 per person. Coffee, iced tea and water will be provided as well.

RSVP will be by check or PayPal. Checks should be made to WPPC-WA and mailed to Sharon Losey, 330 Nisqually Cut Off Rd. SE, Olympia, WA 98513. Deadline to RSVP is 1 Feb.

Yuk Parents Celebrate YWW

The party was held at the Phelps’ house on Saturday, Jan 30. About 10 parents enjoyed a great lunch and each others’ company while sharing stories about their Yuks at the Phelps home in Woodinville.

Army/Navy Tailgate 2009

The WPPC-WA Army/Navy tailgate party was a huge success this year! It was attended by 25-30 club members, family, and friends. Our host and hostess opened their home to us and provided fabulous Philly Steak Sandwiches. Thank you so much Barbara and Len! We all had a great time visiting and cheering Army on. Attendee’s brought non-perishable and sundry items for Barbara to send to Greg to pass out to the deployed troops he is with. Barbara notified us yesterday she mailed off FIVE boxes! We hope this makes this holiday season a little more like home for our men and women deployed. As for the game, well we are optimistic for next year! Go Army, Beat Navy!

Members of the West Point Swim Team Visit Washington

The Washington West Point Parent’s Club was contacted mid-day on Monday, November 30 and told that some members of the West Point swim team were coming to our area for an invitational meet. We were asked if we could, or if we cared to, support the team in any way. We rarely get the opportunity to support Cadets in this manner and as you can imagine, we jumped at the opportunity! This had to be accomplished quickly as the swim team arrived the very next day! They would be competing Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Sharon immediately sent an email to the Board asking for approval to fund snacks and drinks. The Board replied with a resounding “Yes”. The Gatorade and granola bars purchased served as fuel between heats. We also organized a very short notice spaghetti feed for the team, manager, and coach. Sharon Losey, Pam Kirkwood, and Suzanne Mayr pooled their resources and managed to make the team feel welcome and provided a nice dinner for them along with Washington hospitality at Pam’s home in Puyallup. Boy, can those swimmers pack away the food! We are hoping that next year (or the next team that comes our way) we are given more than two days notice so we have the opportunity to organize a club-wide event to welcome the Cadets to Washington!

Gregory Lewandowski is currently deployed in Afghanistan and will distribute goodies to troops so anyone who would like to contribute non-perishable foods or sundries is welcome to donate on game day.
