George Rippon from the Tacoma Veteran’s Center

Directions: Hwy 512 to Pioneer St exit and turn right onto Pioneer. Before you get to the next light, the hall will be on your right. You will come to an elementary school and just past it turn right and the hall is there on the left. You may park on the road or at the school.

Take I-5 to exit number 127, Hwy 512, toward Puyallup.
The exits are not numbered on Hwy 512, but take the exit for Hwy 161 – Eatonville (the next exit after the one for the Southhill Mall). Turn right off the exit and immediately get over to the left turn lane and turn left at the first light, no street sign but it is Meridian. Take the first right onto 31st Street SE. Go to the end of the road and at the “T” turn left onto 5th. The park entrance is on your right.

Sunday, May 17, 2009 — 12:00 noon -3:00 pm

The West Point Parent Club of Washington would like to invite all parents and sponsors of offered or accepted candidates to attend a New Parent Seminar on Sunday May 17, 2009, from 12 noon-3:00pm at the Hotel Murano in Tacoma. The purpose of this Seminar is for the new parents to receive information regarding all the exciting events that will happen over the coming year for you and your Cadet, and to meet parents who have experienced this journey. Lunch will be catered and will be $22 per person. The cost of the binder of materials given to each family will be $15 and is geared towards the new parents. RSVP by May 9th

Sunday 12:00 to 3:00. Please bring Boodle* to swap with 50 others. Members do not have to bring a box as I have ordered enough for everyone. We’ll pack Valentine Boxes to send to our cadets/soldiers and hold elections for the upcoming year. Hope to see you there!!!! If you are not able to attend and would like to have your cadet/soldier receive a box, please write a check for $40 to WPPC-WA and send to

FROM the South (i.e. going north on I-5) Take the Seneca Street exit – EXIT 165 – on the left. Turn right onto 4th Ave. Turn right onto Battery Street (at fire station). Turn right onto 5th Ave.

Parking is available on the street ( Battery , 5th, or nearby streets) – FREE on Sundays.

*Boodle – cookies, goodies, treats, candy, healthy snacks, small drinks, toys, pencils/pens, novelties, etc. Almost anything our sons and daughters will enjoy and/or will amuse them (won’t perish in a few days).

A note from Angie:

I was brainstorming with my co-workers about “boodle-icious” possibilities and we came up with some profession connected boodle goodie items that could be useful and fun:

Teacher = pencils, pens, notepads, mini rulers, highlighters
Doctor/Nurse = Band-Aids (or those cool stickers that say things like Ow!, Good Boy!, Star! etc.)
Dentist = sample toothbrushes, floss, toothpastes
REI/Outdoor Store = carabineers, mini flashlights, hand warmers, etc.
Hardware store = mini tool kit, reflective tape, electrical tape, painters removable tape, small screwdrivers with interchangeable tips
Accountant = pocket calculators, solar powered, usually have a business-card back
Costco/Grocery Store= almost anything packaged in groups of many and easily divided (fun size candies, muffins, bite-size brownies, granola bars, etc.
Record store = sample CDs
Department store = perfume samples
Drugstore = mini-wipes, nail clippers, etc.
Bookstore = Sudoku, crossword, $1 book table books, etc.

Old DVDs that you don’t watch any more. Or ask at the Video Store; they may give a bulk discount if you buy the a bunch of used DVDs.
Sticky note pads. (Everybody gives them away: insurance companies, pharmaceutical companies, banks, etc.)
Oh, any Pharmaceutical Reps out there? Got those little individual packets of aspirin, Aleve, etc.

Office copies of magazines (Time, Newsweek, US World Report, People, OK, Us, Popular Mechanics, etc.)

Decks of cards

Gum
Mints

WPPC-WA will provide the USPS flat rate boxes to pack that day. You can ship them for a flat rate of $10.35 (even if filled with rocks).
