Newsletter information:
- One of
the single most important items we have in our club is our Brag news
- Yes
it sounds like you are being self-centered but not really!
- First,
it recognizes the achievements of your cadet or grad; they are great
achievements!
- Second,
members of the club see what things cadets and grads are doing
i.
Two years ago, when Mike Collins was a junior he was at
Sapper School (a 30 day mini Ranger school for
combat engineers); I was able to discuss this with his dad because my son
George had done the same thing 4 years earlier.
ii.
In our last newsletter Josh Wiley & Michelle
Alderman were mentioned as being part of the Orienteering Team and last year
Jake Cook was on this team; if I had any questions about the team schedule or
whatever; I would make contact with the cadets’ parents!
St Louis
Web Site
- When
accessing our site for the first time; go to www.west-point.org; click on Parent
Clubs; then Army Parents; then Missouri;
then St Louis
- Our
club calendar is always available on our website to help you remember
events
- We
have reviewed a few books on our site like the one Pat is handing out to
the 2007 grad parents because they are not available on other web site.
For a more extensive book library; visit West-Point.org web site. They
also get a percentage from Amazon.com which helps keep them in business
and West-Point.org host our web site!
- On the
back of our directory we have listed the St Louis cadet by academic
company (except for 2010, I ran out of time); this helps you & your
cadet see who else is in their company if they/you need to ask for help.
Your cadet will be assigned to one of these companies before the school
year begins.
Other Web Sites
- The
Pointer View web site is West Point’s
local newspaper where you can keep up with academy events.

USMA web site
- The
USMA Master Schedule is available which gives detail information on
future events. Remember to click on the LIST button at the bottom.
- Also
available is class information like handbook downloads, pictures of R-Day,
CBT, CFT, Ring Weekend & Graduation.
- Several
other web sites are available for purchasing USMA related items they are
listed in our directory.
- If you
are a graduate parent (or not); you should take the opportunity to sign up
for the AOG Assembly magazine; this bi-monthly magazine has many articles
about what USMA graduates are doing around the world for example last
month they had an article on the new Cougar & Buffalo Armored
Personnel Carriers which will soon be available to further protect our soldiers
from IEDs.
