The West Point Parents Club of St. Louis meeting was called to order by President Patrick Flachs at 12:00 pm. Mike McCullough opened with the pledge of allegiance and gave a prayer for our service people & new cadets.   1. Pat acknowledged the past presidents at the meeting and presented Greg & Nancy Cook with a past President gift.
  2. Pat welcomed our new 2nd Lt’s and Yearling cadets present at the meeting - Lauren Beckler & Joshua Wiley.
  3. 2nd Lt Jacob Cook ‘07, Branched Infantry and spoke about his journey through West Point which has taken him to many parts of the world. He said “USMA has the best group of people to help you through these 4 years, take a deep breath and get ready for the ride of your life”.
  4. 2nd Lt Adam Hilkenkamp ’07, Branched Field Artillery and spoke about the 3,000 best friends and officers at USMA. He said “Get involved with the clubs and make friends for they will be with you for the rest of your life. Have fun, keep in touch with your parents; you only have 47 months to go”.
  5. Pat presented the ’07 grads with name plates showing their name, rank and branch a gift from our club.
  6. Pat introduced the Officers of our club: President: Patrick Flachs ‘72, Vice President, Frank Janoski ’74 Secretary Mary Ann Wiley and Treasurers Karen and John Hilkenkamp.
  7. Pat explained the importance of the 50/50 tickets; the main gift was art work donated by Marilyn Ballard.
  8. All members & new families were introduced and the new cadets explained what sport they are interested in.
  9. Frank Janoski spoke on the most important things to remember for the new cadets & their parents.
  10. Mike McCullough (Webmaster) spoke on many websites available, our newsletter & the purpose of brag news.
  11. Mary Ann Wiley spoke on our club calendar, cadet STAP classes and the plebe-parent network.
  12. Mary Larson spoke on the All Academy Ball – Army (WPPC & AOG) is the sponsor this year.
  13. Marge McCullough spoke on Troop Support; mentor parents and grad net parent network.
  14. Pat spoke on the mission of our club, top 10 list of things to do, Parents Fund, Cadet Insurance, Cadet activities and A Club tickets for football games. This information is on our website.
  15. Karen and John Hilkenkamp gave the Treasurer’s Report: as of June 30, 2007 we have a balance of $5, 102.23.

 

Lt Amos Camden Riley Bock ‘04

The Missouri Army National Guard Armory has been named in memory of Lt Amos Bock ’04; Lt Bock began his career in the National Guard as a member of the 1140th Engineer Battalion in 1999, a year before receiving his appointment. The Armory in Portageville, MO, will now bear his name. Lt Bock was killed in action in Iraq on October 23, 2006 by an EFP while serving with the 101st Airborne Division. Lt Bock’s parents are Jill & Riley Bock of New Madrid MO.

 

Boodle Meeting at Pujols 5 Westport Plaza - September 8

We will meet at the Pujols 5 "Café Room” (a private room with multiple TVs). The meeting will begin at 11:00 am with "Boodle Box" preparations. At Noon we can watch the Army Football against Rhode Island. A Buffet including Pasta Salad, Roasted Breast of Chicken with Rice & Freshwater Tilapia is available with unlimited iced tea & soft drinks; a cash bar for adult beverages will be available.                   Grad Parents are responsible for Door Prizes.    Cost is $18 per person.

Boodle for Cadets & Grads

We will make boodle for all club member cadets & grads. Cadet companies (A1, A2, etc) are required for boodle packages. If you want us to send boodle please send addresses to mike@mccullough.cc or 618-263-3981.

Toys for Tots & Army Women’s Soccer – September 14

The 2007 Toys for Tots Women's Soccer Tournament will be at St Louis University (SLU) on September 14-16. Army will play Air Force at 5:30 pm on Friday & SLU at 1 pm on Sunday. Southeast Missouri State who will play SLU on Friday at 7:30 pm and Air Force at 11 am Sunday. Please come out to support our Army team and help support Toys for Tots!

 

Charity Golf Tournament - August 21

The West Point Society of St. Louis has announced its Charity Golf Tournament on Tuesday, August 21, 2007; which will be held at the Norwood Hills Country Club, 5601 Lucas Hunt Road, Saint Louis, MO 63136. Brag News

Cpt Will Eberle ’04 was promoted to Captain; and is Recon Platoon Leader for the HHC 1-508th INF Battalion, 82nd Airborne in Afghanistan; and is considering Special Forces. Will is the son of Phillip & Michiko Eberle.

 

Cpt David Howald ’04 was promoted to Captain; and is now the S1 for the Battalion with 101st Airborne stationed at Ft Campbell; and recently completed Pathfinder School. David is the son of Kent & Betty Howald.

 

Cpt Robert McCullough ’04 was promoted to Captain; and is assistant S3 (Operations Officer) with 3-7th FA Battalion, 25th Infantry serving in Iraq. Bob is the son of Mike & Marge McCullough

 

Cpt Sarah Penn ’04 was promoted to Captain; and is Company Commander with Nato Southern Command serving in Naples Italy. Sarah is the daughter of Dale & Rhonda Penn.

 

Jeff Nichols ’08 was part of the cadet team which went to India for AIAD; his assignment was published in the June 22 Pointer View. Jeff is the son of Dan & Lynn Nichols.

 

Amelia Janoski '09 was named for the second straight year to the Patriot League Soccer Academic Honor Roll; was on the Dean's list for the fourth straight semester; is a member of the Army Women's soccer team and was awarded her second major "A" letter this past fall for her athletic contributions. Amelia is the daughter of Frank Janoski.

 

Lauren Beckler ’10 has made the Dean’s List for both semesters; was Soldier of the Quarter and is on the Cheerleading Team. Lauren is the daughter of Terry & Melissa Beckler.
