Our next meeting will be Saturday, January 21st at noon. We will meet at the Village Properties (30050 SW Town Center Loop, West, Wilsonville, OR 97070) in their meeting room.
Our club funding is in fine shape as the Treasurer’s report indicates, but there is a continued need to replenish these funds each year to fund our efforts: parting gifts to graduates and past officers, birthday gifts for our cadets, food and drinks for our meetings, and the sending of special boodle to our cadets and soldiers if the need might develop. In past years, this also included seed money for the semi-annual All Service Academy Ball. It will be several years, though, before this responsibility rotates back to our club.
There are many ways to raise funds for the club, ranging from our past tulip sales, to the club store, to soliciting donations from members and interested parties, to name a few. Our next meeting will be an opportunity to review past efforts, and to solicit ideas for the coming year.
See you all at the next meeting!
The West Point Society of Oregon hosted several of our cadets at their December meeting at the Old Spaghetti Factory in Portland. Many parents, cadets, as well as a few prospects were welcomed by President Capt. Kevin Byrne, Ret. West Point Class of 1993, and the other members.
Stories were shared. Definitely a good time was had by all!

Last spring at the Parent Leaders meeting held at West Point, one of the cadet parents announced a new service to West Point parent groups and cadet parents: a source for laser engraved gifts and memorabilia officially licensed by West Point. A portion of every sale goes back to support the Academy. Their online retail website is now operating:
“AcademyCommemoratives.com features a selection of unique items laser engraved with your favorite West Point logo. We offer West Point picture frames, paperweights, luggage tags, wall plaques, Class logo items, varsity & club sports key chains. Most of our gifts can be personally engraved and all are delivered directly to your home. We are one of the only places where you can get club sport memorabilia. You can also find our link on West-Point.Org under boodle vendors.”
In order to introduce our web site to your members, we’re running a special offer for West Point Parents Club members only! We will engrave your name and address on your choice of our anodized luggage tags for free.
These black anodized luggage tags are permanently engraved with the West Point word art and are provided with choice of a leather strap, plastic lanyard or split-ring set to attach your tags to your luggage or backpack.
Your free personal engraving is good for up to five lines of information, typically name address and telephone, which is laser engraved using the Arial font on the rear of the tag. You decide what information you want to include by typing in at check-out. Follow this link to take advantage of this special pricing.

Our cadets returned to West Point for Re-Orgy Week in early August. The Class of 2015 have joined the Long Gray Line on A-Day, and the entire Corps of Cadets is well entrenched in military, academic, and sporting endeavors.
There are many photos, stories, and videos highlighting these first few weeks of the academic year. I encourage you to visit the flickr.com or facebook.com pages for a look at the latest.
Also, follow this link for pictures from our “Welcome New Cadets BBQ” we held in June.
Our Oregon and Southwest Washington Parent Club met at the end of August for a meeting to kick off the new year, and to pack up some boodle for our cadets. Follow this link for a few more pictures.
At this meeting, we also discussed the upcoming year for our club, recruiting a slate of officers for the next year, and to discuss some changes to our by-laws. See the separate post with minutes from this meeting, and the proposed changes.
We will vote on this slate ad the proposed changes at our next meeting on October 15, 2011 in Wilsonville at Village Properties.
Congratulations on your acceptance to West Point and the Class of 2015. Please be our guest (along with your family) at our annual welcome BarBeQue.
