Welcome to the West Point Parents Club of Northern California!

The West Point Parents Club of Northern California
is a dynamic organization whose purposes are:

To publicize and enhance the West Point image in Northern California .

To provide a means of communication between the Academy, cadet parents and the Northern California communities.

To offer opportunities for education, fellowship, mutual understanding and support among parents of cadets.

To promote local interest in attending the Academy .

In serving those purposes, we organize and conduct many social activities, educational programs, and support services for candidate and cadet families. To learn more, click on "Event Calendar". If you'd like to communicate with our club officers, click on "Officers" to find out who we are and how to contact us. If you're a parent or relative of a candidate and would like to chat with a parent of a West Point cadet, click on "Contact Us", and contact the Mentor family in your area code.

When it comes to cadets, candidates, and their parents, the operative word for the West Point Parents Club of Northern California is SUPPORT, so please give us a call or drop us a line. We would be glad to hear from you.

A Message from the Presidents:

To our new members:

The West Point Parents’ Club of Northern California is a group of dedicated and talented men and women who are active in support of cadets and their parents from our region who are enrolled in the USMA at West Point.    Our primary mission is the support and mentoring of fellow parents with particular emphasis on parent of plebes.  The club has a number of annual activities outlined below:

2007 WPPC Club Calendar

May 6th WPPC/NC Spring Social    This event is designed to give parents of cadets in all classes a chance to meet and get to know each other.  We also invite local USMA graduates to attend.  Our first Spring Social was held last year with 125 people in attendance and was a huge success.  This year’s event will be at the Cline Cellars Vineyard Barrel Room in Sonoma.  Invitations will be mailed at the beginning of April.

June 9th Almost-a-Plebe Picnic/BBQ   This fun and informal barbeque gives “New Cadets” an opportunity to experience first hand, the “joys” of becoming a plebe among upper classmen who are home on break.  Current cadets will give some informal advice to the incoming class of 2011 on everything from surviving Cadet Basic Training to the fine art of pie cutting!  We will hold a catered barbeque on the picnic grounds of Cline Cellars.  Invitations will be mailed early in May.  All family members including siblings are invited.

December 1st Army/Navy Game Party            This event is for parents only.   The WPPC organizes this party and invites the Naval Academy Parents Club to join us.   Parents enjoy a festive lunch, root for their respective teams in the biggest rivalry of the year in college football.    The location is still to be determined and invitations will be mailed early in November.

December 29th The Annual Holiday Luncheon  This is a beautiful year-end celebration for cadets who are home on break and their families.  It is also the very first time we greet cadet candidates and their families.  Our local Military Laison Officer holds a special pre-luncheon program for all the candidates for the class of 2012.  Parents of candidates have time to mingle with current cadet parents.  Then the luncheon follows with guest speakers.  The highlight is always hearing from the current cadets!  This year’s luncheon will be held at San Francisco’s beautiful Olympic Lakeside Club.

In addition to the activities listed above, each class has their own celebrations and informative meetings, many of which mirror activities the cadets are celebrating at West Point.  All of these class-related activities culminate during the cadet’s senior or “Firstie” year as graduation approaches.  The club sponsors an amazing graduation program, which includes hotel rooms at special rates, chartered busses that bring all graduation guests from the Club directly to Michie Stadium for the ceremony and ends with a beautiful luncheon for all the Northern California graduates, and their guests at the historic Thayer Hotel.  As well, each graduate is presented with an amazing memory book filled with congratulatory letters and pictures from the President to the congressional and senatorial nominators, a beautiful walnut desk plaque displaying their branch and rank and other gifts.  This program is only available to WPPC/NC club members who have paid dues for all four years of their cadet’s attendance at USMA.

We heartily encourage not only your membership, but also your involvement in as many club activities as you like.  Becoming involved as a volunteer is the best way to get to know people and enhance your own experience as a parent of a West Point Cadet.

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions you may have about our Club or West Point.  I will do my best to answer them or find you someone who can!

Welcome to the West Point Parents Club of Northern California.  Hooah!

Sincerely,

Susan Jane Sutton
