The church was packed with those who mourn the death of Anthony Miller. And it is not a small church! Among those there were friends and family of Anthony who have known him all his short life. Also there were about two hundred cadets, coaches and others from West Point. Former Superintendent Christman was there, sitting with the cadets. Several parents from our Parents Club were there - many with their West Point parkas and club name tags.
At the front of the church the flowers were arrayed near the open casket. One stand had a large Army A of gold mums on the outside of the A and black flowers on the inside. There lay Anthony in is Full Dress Gray uniform, holding tickets from the Army Navy Football Game.
The burial service followed at National Harmony Memorial Park. A contingent of cadets stood at attention as the casket was wheeled by them. Members of the Old Guard (3rd US Infantry Regiment) held the flag taut above the casket. After a few words of comfort, a bugler played Taps and an eight man firing party fired their rifles. The Old Guard folded the flag with elegant precision. It, plus another flag, were presented to the family.
