Cadet Basic Training - BEAST

 

Cadet Basic Training is a challenging time for the New Cadets.  They are physically and mentally exhausted.  Approximately two weeks after the start of BEAST, they will be allowed to call home.  Make sure they have phone cards! (No cell phones are allowed at BEAST.)  Be supportive during that (usually short) call.  Some New Cadets will be excited and others will sound tired and depressed.  This is normal and try not to let it get you down if they seem depressed.   Write your New Cadet as often as possible.  Do not send them packages unless they specifically request you to.

Call a parent who has been through this or email if you need someone to talk to who understands.  It will get better!
