Secretary’s Report – Jeannene Rider

Minutes from November 14, 2004 approved.

Ball Chairman Report – Mary Long

Cash donations - $4,750

Tickets Sales - $6,020

Total Income - $10,770

Profit - $184.93

(Complete report is attached to official Secretary’s Minutes)

501 C3 was approved.  Non profit organization where donations can be used as a tax deduction.

Sales tax exemption from Missouri was approved.  Items need to be purchased in Missouri for the tax exempt status.

In order to get the tax exemption, a check or credit card from the parent club must be used.  Since the club does not have a credit card, please secure a check from the Treasurer before purchasing items for the club.

The date (Dec. 30, 2005) and deposit has been made for next year’s ball.

Ticket sales of 176 were down from previous years.  Some reasons for this could be due to the fact that the ball was held on a Thursday night and that Navy was in a bowl game the same evening.

President’s Report – Carol Bazemore

Elections held for new officers.  These need to be in place for the new publications going out to the class of 2009 and for the Presidents’ conference at West Point held in April.  The change over will be before the annual June picnic.

The following were nominated and voted in:

President – Mary Long

Vice President – Shelley Thompson

Treasurer – Chuck King

Secretary – Jeannene Rider

Ball Chairman – Susan and John McCann

Motion for $500 to be given to help cover the cost of attending the conference at West Point was approved.

Frostbite Regatta – Last year $500 was approved to help bring the men’s crew team to Wichita.  The team was unable to come last year, but is trying to get enough support to make the trip this November/05.  A motion to contribute $500 again this year was made and approved.  The Wichita Parents’ Club has a fund raiser for this event.  They are holding a silent auction for a privately owned condo in Colorado.

Colorado Cabin Available

As a fundraiser for the West Point Parent’s Club of Greater Wichita, WPPPGW is happy to announce the availability of a privately owned Colorado cabin for silent auction. The 2,000 square foot home is surrounded by approximately 9 acres of mountain forests and is located on the side of a mountain overlooking Winter Park, Colorado. This cabin has a sleeping capacity of 14 (plus two sleeper twin sofas). The house is completely furnished with all the modern necessities to make a memorable vacation for you and your family. Digital photos can be e-mailed for your inspection.

Available dates vary each month, but at this time the cabin is presently available for most of January after the 5th (including Martin Luther King Holiday), President’s Weekend in February, and the first two weeks in March. For 2005 summer dates, at this time it is still available for most dates in June and then again from mid-August through Labor Day. There still are off-season dates available for fall 2004 and spring 2005.

It is located in the beautiful Rocky Mountains approximately 20 minutes from winter skiing at either Winter Park Ski Resort or Silver Creek Ski Resort. For summer fun, the area boasts 3 golf courses and the best fly-fishing around in either the Frazier or Colorado Rivers.

For more information or to request photos, please contact Jonathan Darr @ 316-518-5988 or jdarr@cox.net. Bidding to start at $100/night with a five-night minimum. All proceeds go to the West Point Parents Club of Greater Wichita and for its use only.

Discussions

The club is in need of new volunteers to maintain the Web Site and to be the Historian.  Cathy Barnes has set up the Web Site and has maintained it but her cadet will graduate in ’06.  Jan Daniels is the current Historian but her cadet graduates in ’05.  Please contact Carol if interested.

Parents’ Clubs are allowed to put a page in the Howitzer year book to honor their graduating cadets.  Bill and Mary Long will check into the cost of this and see if it’s too late to add a page to the 2005 yearbook.
