Class of 2009 – Plebe Parent Weekend

Unfortunately, Jon was ill for our visit, which limited our activities and photo opportunities. He was admitted to the hospital on Monday with pneumonia. He is doing much better. The doctors replenished his fluids and pumped some antibiotics into his system. Attached is a group photo (left to right: Mary Wilson, Lauren Mathis, Mike Mathis, Cadet Jonathan Mathis, Chris Singleton, Sue Feighner Singleton) from the Banquet. Jon staved off bed-rest long enough to attend the banquet and receiving line, then it was back to bed. We had to cancel our plans to visit New York City on Sunday due to his illness. We were glad to spend what time we could with him.

Here are 3 pictures from PPW. In the Novice Crew team photo, Dirk is 6th from the left in sunglasses. In the novice crew picture by the Hudson, he is 3rd from the left squatting down, and in the photo from the banquet he is the taller plebe on the left. He is with Bobbie Minor, his first West Point roommate also in B4. Bobbie is from New York. We sat with his family at the banquet. It was a wonderful weekend, especially after the rain cleared up on Saturday!

Dirk is the 3rd person from the left. Also, in some other photos that you can view by clicking on the arrows at the bottom of the photo once you go to the site, when you see the 8 man novice crew team, he is the 3rd from the right or the bough of the boat.
