 DIRECTIONS TO FT. GILLEM  

 

DIRECTIONS BY AUTO - Ft. Gillem is located on the south side of Atlanta, just off of Interstate 675 on Moreland Avenue or Anvil Block Rd Avenue in Forest Park, Georgia.

From the Northeast (Greenville, South Carolina)
85 South through the city of Atlanta to 75 South 
75 South to 285 East
285 East to 675 South 
675 South to Exit 7 (Anvil Block Road)
Turn Right    

From the East (Augusta, Georgia)
20 West to 285 South
285 South to 675 South
675 South to Exit 7 (Anvil Block Road)
Turn Right

From the South (Macon, Georgia)
75 North to 675 North
675 North to Exit 7 (Anvil Block Road)
Turn Left

From the Southwest (Columbus, Georgia)
85 North to 285 East
285 East to 675 South
675 South to Exit 7 (Anvil Block Road)
Turn Right

From the West (Birmingham, Alabama)
20 East to 285 South 
285 South to 675 South
675 South to Exit 7 (Anvil Block Road)
Turn Right

From the Northwest (Chattanooga, Tennessee)
75 South through Downtown to 285 East
285 East to 675 South 
675 South to Exit 7 (Anvil Block Road)
Turn Right

NOTE:  On weekends, the Anvil Block Road Gate is the ONLY one open. When you enter the gate Anvil Block Road becomes Hood Avenue.  Proceed approximately 1.5 miles straight on Hood Avenue.  Turn LEFT onto 18th Street (there is a sign for Marchman Lake).   You will immediately cross two sets of railroad tracks and appear to be driving into a "industrial" type area with motor pools on both sides surrounded by high fences.  When the main road curves around to the left,  KEEP DRIVING STRAIGHT.  It will appear that you are driving into the woods and the asphalt will become gravel after a short way.  The road will curve to the left and entrance to Marchman Lake is just ahead on the RIGHT. (REMINDER:  Be prepared to show identification with photograph for all those over the age of 16 and proof of insurance.)
