Lead the Way 5K update
The much anticipated Lead the Way 5K / 10K Run continues to make progress. Marty Whitcomb and Joe Rangitsch met with the action officer from the newly acquired Clay National Guard Center ( AKA NAS Atlanta) and the Commander of Dobbins AFRB to sort throught the variuos requiremenst to hold the ruin on the complex.
Various routes were reconn'ed as well as receiving an explanation of the various directorates who will need to give their OK before we can start execution.
We remain very optimistic that we WILL have a run on the runway at NAS / DOBBINS - it is simply a matter of progressing through the bureaucracy to get the different approvals. We are still walking through the different organizations, requirements, varying rules and directions to be able to hold this run.
Because of this, we are being realistic and UNCOUPLING the run from any SPECIFIC date at this time, but we are still looking at the Mid November - Decemberl time frame.
Before you go shooting the messenger - remember that the intent of this event is to reach out to the community at large, not just the West Point / Service Academy family.
This event has the potential to be a MAJOR community event and we do NOT want to be short sighted.
Stay tuned for more updates.
We are still looking for energetic folks to get involved. If you are interested in being involved, email Joe at

I guess we really can't really call you NEW parents anymore, can we?? :>)
As we move into the second semester of your journey with the Long Gray Line, we would like to congratulate you on holding on during this wild first semester and now that the angst of the dreaded first after Christmas RETURN has subsided, we can talk about the future.
The success of any organization and club is the ability of each leadership class to be able to step aside and rest easy knowing that the next class will pick up the standard and improve on what has been done.
Our club is no different. It is time for the Class of 2013 to look deep into your soul and think about how you can help this club be the best it can be. The majority of the officers on the board right now will be graduating with their cadets in 5 months.
We need all the classes, but yours specifically, to step up and start filling the roles that will be left vacant a few scant months. It has been our goal over the last several years to have the "younger" classes take on more of a leadership role in the club so that as a "FIRSTIE" family, you will have completed your "obligation" to the club and can freely enjoy the firstie year with your cadet and not have the additional burden of club leadership on your shoulders.
This is really a great time to step up - you spend a half year learning, a year doing, then you get to rest and maybe mentor ( as an experienced parent)
Once again we ask, if you are interested in helping our club be the best in the nation, please contact one of us here below...

Parents of the Class of 2014 - Welcome to this Roller Coaster ride we call the West Point\ Experience.... :>)
As we move into the beggining of this journey, let us say as a collective that we need the "younger" classes to step up and take a leadership role in this club.
We have have and continue to enjoy a very active role in the local alumni association from West Point which has grown to allow us to have a premier, if not THE premier reputation amongst Parents Clubs in the US with West Point.
This effort takes work and dedication which must be passed from class parents to class parents. The success of any organization and club is the ability of each leadership class to be able to step aside and rest easy knowing that the next class will pick up the standard and improve on what has been done.
Our club is no different. It is time for the Class of 2014 to look deep into your souls and think about how you can help this club be the best it can be. The majority of the officers on the board right now will be graduating with their cadets in 1 month.

This is really a great time to step up - despite the unknowns of this journey. The general plan is that you spend a half year learning, a year or more doing, then you get to rest and maybe mentor ( as an experienced parent)

The WPPC is about to graduate its next class of PARENTS... This means that we need to have some fine upstanding parents step up to help with the leadership of our club. We will be publishing the positions needed and what the duties are.
Please consider helping us keep this club one of the most vital in the country.
If you are interested, please contact Joe Rangitsch at
