Acceptance Day.  Sat. Aug. 18, 2007

With the Acceptance Day parade the Class of 2011 was officially brought into the Corps of Cadets. The Acceptance Parade marks the completion of their new cadet milestones, and the beginning of life as a full fledged Cadet. In this parade, the New Cadets who have successfully completed Cadet Basic Training march as a group across the Plain to join the Corps of Cadets. The parade is reversed four years later when the graduating First Class marches away from the Corps at their Graduation Parade.

The term "new cadet" disappears, as each member of the Class of 2011 is promoted to the rank of cadet private. They have already made some life-long bonds with their classmates during Beast. The class of 2011 will begin to settle into their new rooms and establish a new set of relationships. Together they have met the challenges of Beast.  Beast is now history, and a part of their collective memory. They have survived.  Now, they must ready themselves for Monday's classes. They must be aware of more senior personnel in the area, and the extra attention they are sure to receive.

Parents and family members were extremely proud, and anxious to greet their cadets, spend a little time with them, then leave them behind again until November.

Random Quote:

“I believe it is a memorable experience for any American citizen to visit this institution, which for nearly 150 years has contributed so much to the growth and the traditions of our nation. Nowhere else can we find our country’s history more vividly symbolized and reflected than in these few acres, and in the careers of the men who have studied here.”

Frank Pace
June 6, 1950, graduation speech
