In the first of a series of articles, Rick Maese, Baltimore Sun Reporter , writes that the concept of sports as preparation for war dates to ancient times -- and still thrives as military recruiters seek out future warriors among teenage athletes. "The relationship between sports and the military, a link historically celebrated by presidents, generals and athletic coaches, is more debatable than ever, as the role of each American institution has undergone significant change in the past half-century.
