PARENTS CLUB OF WEST POINT

History

The Parents Club of West Point – Serving New York and New Jersey – was founded in 1976 as a 501 (c) 3 not for profit organization.  The club’s mission is to promote and exchange information and experiences to help Cadet Parents appreciate West Point, understand the rigorous expectations of the Academy and the United States Army and provide events that celebrate cadet successes and traditional rights of passage. Throughout the 40 years of our club’s existence we have sought to accomplish the following objectives:

  • To encourage young people to attend the United States Military Academy (USMA)
  • To enhance the image of USMA and to promote positive public relations
  • To provide a means for social contact and camaraderie among the parents of present cadets and West Point graduates.

To strengthen parental ties to West Point, we honor past traditions and work together to expand our club’s vision as our sons and daughters learn to be exceptional leaders in a global world.

The Parents Club of West Point strives to directly support West Point’s mission by investing in Cadet and Academy programs. We have raised funds for the General Omar N. Bradley Award or Excellence in History Research given to a graduating cadet; contributions to the Army Athletic Association at the 5-Star level; the West Point Fund, AOG Herbert Alumni Center; the Military History Department; the USMA Military Geography Guest Lecture Series; Support Our Troops Program; Guest Lecture Series; Parents Club of West Point Leadership Award for Outstanding High School Juniors; the Cadet Activities Fund; the Foreign Immersion Program; the Academy Scholars Program (Academic Individual Advance Development); and, recently, the International Cadet Exchange Program.

The functions of the club shall be strictly non-political in nature. All the activities of the club shall be formulated and conducted in harmony and conformity with the official United States Military Academy (U.S.M.A.) policies. Among the notable events our club sponsors are: Briefings by Academy leaders, Junior High School Leadership Award; New Parent and Cadet orientation events; Football tailgates, The Winter Ball and Silent Auction.

There is a Closed Group Facebook page for personal updates parents can submit on their cadets, requests for information on scheduling, housing rentals for events, activity and dress protocols, etc.
